It’s raining, it’s pouring…

Finally it’s raining! We have had such hot weather for weeks and with days of bushfire smoke added in for good measure, it’s nice to finally have some relief!

It’s hard to comprehend that in some places, like in the UK where my daughter lives, that flooding is occurring and in the US heavy snow falls are again the order of the day, whereas we have been sweltering in 30-40 Celsius temps for weeks.

Today is just perfect with cooler temperatures and rain since last night. It’s not been excessive but enough to replenish our rain water tanks, as that is our only supply of water. How we ever survived with the three girls at home beats me sometimes!! But, we taught them well, they understand the need to conserve water and that long showers are only allowed in places that have unlimited supplies of water or hotels!

I am taking a little break from my running today and am instead holed up in the sunroom in the backyard listening to music, supposedly reading my book for book club which is on Monday night and which I only started this morning,  watching the rain, taking photos of the raindrops on the walls of the sunroom, instagramming said photos, enjoying my husband’s busyness around the yard, drinking cups of tea and basically relaxing! Get the drift?

We just had a bit of excitement – we found a red back spider nesting in the sunroom garden.  These are very dangerous spiders despite their pretty red stripe and he was promptly relocated!

I’ll leave you with my picture of the raindrops and I will get back to the Bookseller of Kabul. Have a lovely weekend, I’m sure I will!!

  2. Gorgeous photo! I’ve been paying attention to the extreme weather wreaking havoc! I hope your daughter is doing alright! My city, Calgary Canada experienced a 100 year flood last spring. Nature is an incredible force.
Glad for your rain relief and I hope you managed to finish your book club book (thanks for the recommendation).

    • Thanks Sheryl, great to get your message from Canada! It’s still raining here today and we have just sat outside watching a storm roll in with lots of thunder and lightening – the rain on the roof is such a lovely sound and the garden is feeing much better for it all I’m sure. I’m on the last few pages of my book so will have it read just in the nick of time – at least it will be fresh in my mind for the discussion though 🙂 I agree with you that nature is an incredible force and thankfully all is well with my daughter. Nice to chat with you!
