Weekly photo challenge: Descent – it’s all downhill from here

‘Riding Into oblivion’ is another title I thought of for this photo for the weekly photo challenge theme of ‘Descent’.

To me it’s a great shot because of the story behind it as much as for the picture. Does that happen to you too? The picture becomes just one part of a bigger story.

We have just been to Croatia on a cycling/sailing tour which had so many fabulous descents (and ascents) that I could bore you to bits with them but I chose this picture instead.

It’s taken on the day before our actual tour started and was supposed to be a warm-up ride (so said my husband).

Instead it turned into a full blown mountain bike adventure of its own! Read here if you want more background.

I love the sparkling blue water, the huge expanse of sea and sky, the never ending drop down into the water and I can feel the roughness of the rocky road all over again. I can also feel the sense of accomplishment that I was able to make it up (and down) and went on to have a blast on the actual tour.

Considering my all too recent emergency appendectomy, I did well! It certainly wasn’t all downhill from here after all.

I also love this photo as a nice descent…once again into water.

Anyone for a swim in the Adriatic Sea?

This one is a view looking down over Hvar in the early morning.

We climbed up so that we could look down.

I haven’t participated in a weekly photo challenge for a while. It’s good to be back!
