Photography 101 wrap-up: The End!

What can I say? On top of being busy enough with work and a life, I embarked on the Photography 101 challenge of posting a photo every day for November (except on weekends).

The hosts of Photo101 gave us a daily theme, helpful tips to accompany the prompt and sent us out to take (or find from our archives) photos to suit the daily word. In all I probably took half the photos and used photos from my archives for the others but I always tried to follow the tips given to fit the day’s prompt. I learnt new skills and ideas for photography and editing that I hadn’t thought of doing before.

We were also encouraged to check out other bloggers’ work, comment appropriately and interact with like minded bloggers.

It was massive fun but also very intense due to time differences and time available (usually from 5-10pm for me). It wasn’t like I had anything else to do!! But guess what? I did it and thoroughly enjoyed myself at the same time. I mentioned a few things in my last few posts which you can read here and here.

I am determined to do the final weekend wrap up:

Browse your collection of shots from the course, select up to ten favorites, and publish a wrap-up post with a gallery.

Instead of me choosing my favourite pictures I went to my stats page and looked at most viewed entries over the past month – I was pleasantly surprised!

I have a widget on my blog that shows the posts which got the most ‘likes’ and this is a very different list to the one below.  My personal top 5 favourites photos are Monochrome, Mystery, Treasure, Edges and my trees.

The other interesting thing has been the number of visitors to my blog during the month. I’m not one to have masses of people drop by but compared to my usual stats November was a bumper month with views, likes and new followers. It was fun seeing how others interpreted the daily prompts and interacting with new blogging ‘friends’.

I liked the fact that the challenge tested my creativity, not just with the photos, but with my post titles and stories.  I  didn’t expect this to be the case.  I really struggled over some of the prompts and how to interpret them – for instance my posts for solitude, triumph, bliss, glass, edges and double…here’s a link to my challenge page which list them all in order in case you want to check them out.

You may be pleased that I won’t be bombarding you with daily photos from now on but I know I’ll keep on taking them!
