Weekly photo challenge: Gone but not forgotten – me

Gone but not forgotten is this week’s photo challenge and it got me thinking. Do I have a photograph that demonstrates what is gone but not forgotten?

After some consideration and rejection of certain photos, which could have been too obvious after a recent loss, I decided that I would use an old photo of myself to show what has gone.

I have a birthday in a few days and while I’m thankful to be as fit and healthy as I am for my (advanced) age, I can’t help but think back to my 16 year old self whenever I see this photo. I remember clearly the photo being taken! I am bursting out of this photo with my whole future ahead of me.

I may have lost my youthfulness but the person inside is still there alive and kicking. I am only the person I am today, over 3 decades later, because of who I was then. I have gone through lots of things over the years but am still the same ‘me’ on the inside.

I hope I never lose (or forget) that uniqueness of my younger self as she has made me what I am today.
