Not the end of the world as we know it… don’t panic! The end of the birthday month, with my youngest daughter’s birthday this week. (The fact that she’s now in her late 20s doesn’t mean she stops being my baby girl!).
As I mentioned in a recent post, I wasn’t expecting that, I wrote each of my daughters a story about their birth and gave it to them when they turned 16. My youngest, after reading my post, queried this, as she can’t remember ever receiving hers. Here’s an excerpt:
You were very nearly called Emma instead of Eliza. Three years after your sister was born here I am again waiting to deliver you. I’m even more nervous than I was before as you will arrive by a caesarean section, a totally different labour experience for me.
I had a male student nurse, called Jason, assigned to me throughout the pregnancy and he was with us in theatre for your birth. I couldn’t stop shaking when they took me into theatre at 12.15pm on that Wednesday. I heard the nurses taking bets on how much you weighed as you were a whopper. I opened my eyes and saw you, very long, very filled out and just beautiful. I knew you were a girl all along. I just knew. Our bicentennial project was completed!
I’m sharing links to a few of my favourite posts about my youngest in honour of her birthday. I know she’ll be thrilled!
Tumba-bloody-Rumba-shooting-kanga-bloody-roos – It’s worth a read if you haven’t seen it. If you don’t raise a smile I’ll give you your money back 🙂
Last but not least – this one was part of a series I did comparing my life with that of each of my daughters at their particular age at the time
She wrote this post for me – about me and it was a total surprise! I love it 🙂
Happy birthday to you Eliza! You never fail to make us laugh, you are such a personality and we all love you to bits.
That’s it – the birthday month is officially over for another year! Phew!!
What a heartfelt post. I also read your daughter’s guest post. She absolutely adores you!! What a lovely family. 🙂

Thanks for your lovely comment. I’m so lucky to have three beautiful daughters and love them all to bits. My first grand baby is due in September so I’m hanging out for that next phase. 😊

What a really lovely post Deb. Just gorgeous. I read your links as well (actually I’d read Eliza’s blog post before when you posted it). Eliza seems to be a very well-rounded and outgoing young woman who has really made an effort to get out and not just see the world but also BE IN the world – she’s making changes, interacting with the community and sounds like a lovely girl. Happy birthday Eliza!!

Thanks desleyjane, that’s so nice of you to say! It’s also a great summary of Eliza and I’m sure she’ll be thrilled to read it. She’s funny – she sent me a message saying she always enjoys my blogs even when they’re not about her! x
