Colour is my best friend and rainbows are the most beautiful expression of colour – so it’s no surprise that ROY G. BIV is a welcome visitor to my world!
You may be asking yourself, as my husband asked me, who the heck is ROY G. BIV? I smirkingly replied (as if I’d known the answer all along) that ROY G. BIV is an acronym for the colours of the rainbow – Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. I must admit that I didn’t know that until I read the Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge prompt. (Click the link for the many other posts on this colourful topic).
You can attack this challenge in one of two ways: share an image that contains all the colours of the rainbow (or an actual rainbow)…… or share a multi-photo gallery, one image for each colour:
I have chosen to share my all colours of the rainbow bikini for a few reasons! 1. It’s the middle of winter here and there’s no way I can wear a bikini at the moment and 2. It’s a different take on the theme and I always try to respond to with a certain ‘Debbie’ take on the world.
There is a story to my gratuitous shot of my bikini!! I know it’s not the best photo (technically) but I think it gets the message across.
Here’s an excerpt from my post I bought a bikini, yes I bought a bikini , a few years ago, when I was in the process of transforming my body – just so that you understand the context of my sharing my rainbow coloured bikini! It was a huge deal for me then and even now, sharing it again!
I am on the Gold Coast for Christmas with some of my family and I decided today that I’d buy a bikini. I haven’t worn a bikini in years & don’t think I really should be wearing one just yet – but too bad!! I am at that age that I don’t really care too much about what others think. (Maybe that’s a little untrue). I had the great idea of buying a bikini while I was out running on the beach, so before my courage left me I went & got one! The sales lady was mature aged and very helpful, and I’d like to think honest in her appraisal of my choices. I feel very summery and not at all out of place up here. Downtown Tumbarumba maybe a different matter!!

I think have ROY G. BIV covered (so to speak)!
I’ll also share a rainbow shot, but as everyone’s got a good rainbow shot, I’m choosing to highlight my bikini photo this week.

It’s also interesting to note that for all my love of colour, my husband is colour blind.
Have a lovely weekend and I do hope it’s full of colour for you!
Deb 🙂
PS. I don’t know about you but when I see the prompt for the photo challenges I usually have an immediate ‘thought’ of what photo I can use, or how I can get a photo to suit the theme. I then go with that first thought, thinking through the way to draft my post and how to weave in my own quirky take on the world. I don’t spend too long thinking about it all, I just do it. I’m interested in how others approach these challenges – is it an initial ‘ping’ of an idea for you or do you think long and hard about it? Because I usually have more time to blog on the weekend and we don’t get the challenge until Saturday morning here in OZ, I always try to get it posted before the weekend gets away from me. Leave me a comment if you’d like to, I really am keen to know how others do it.
Love your bikini Deb – fabulous! I usually know what I want to do, but occasionally I find it difficult – I didn’t do Off-Season because I couldn’t really find anything or think of anything. But yes, usually, I have a pretty good idea of what I want to do as soon as I see the prompt.

Thanks for responding to my question, it’s something I often wonder about. (I obviously don’t have enough to do if I’m wondering about such things!!) I know what you mean about some of the prompts being harder than others. I’m keen to do another post full of colour too – I’ve got so many I can choose from. The bikini won’t be getting a look in any time soon! Glad you liked it 🙂

Not sure if you have the challenge covered, or uncovered, but love the post! As to the question, I usually go with the first thought that I have and spend very little time thinking about it. On this occasion the challenge was switching to bright colours!

Thanks Andy, I’m glad I’m not the only one to go with the first thing that comes to mind for these challenges. I find them a good way to extend my thinking and look at the prompts from a different perspective. I appreciate your comments! Love colour 🌈

I agree with you, I often like to find a slightly offbeat way of responding, if one comes to mind!

I agree! My colourful bikini is a good example of my offbeat way of looking at things 😊
