Sunrise in the desert (2)…..a new adventure awaits!
This is a view of Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) at sunrise.
I love the colour in the sky and the pinkness of the sun hitting the domes. It’s an amazing place and only about 50kms from Uluru! As we drove around the area we kept getting glimpses of both these domes and Uluru and had to pinch ourselves that we were really there.
Did you know that Kata Tjuta means ‘many heads’ in the local language? There are 36 domes with the highest being 546m above the plain, which is 198m higher than Uluru. The domes themselves are 1066m above sea level. They also continue 6kms below the ground. The area is sacred under Anangu men’s law which means that many of the stories are not known except to initiated men.
We did a great walk called the Valley of the Winds which took us through some of the gorges in amongst the magnificent red rocks. We enjoyed it so much we went back another day to do it again! What a great adventure we had!
My Every day is an adventure photo project is making my life very interesting as I am seeing the world with new eyes each day. Every day is an adventure if you look at it in a certain light. Nothing is mundane unless we let it be! You can check out all my photos so far in one place by clicking the link Every day photo project .
Make sure you enjoy an adventure today!

I didn’t even know about Kata Tjuta, Deb, when I saw your photo I thought it was another different side to Uluru. I realise now I was wrong! And what amazing colours!

I’m so glad to be able to show you some of the gorgeous country we have. I think a lot of people don’t know about Kata Tjuta and think it’s part of Uluru. I love the colours too. Thanks for visiting.
