Half light, half shade – split down the middle!

I love the two distinct halves of this photo.  Its two halves of light and shade fit right in with this week’s photo challenge. I have already submitted one post heaven and earth from the same area of the Australian outback and couldn’t resist posting this one too. I love the diagonal dividing line of light and shade, not to mention the red rock and the blue sky!

This week, share an image that has two clear halves, literally or figuratively. You could focus on composition, … and take a photo with an explicit dividing line (either vertical, horizontal, or diagonal). Or take the theme in other directions: zoom in on a pair of objects that together form a whole. Show two people whose demeanor or personality complement each other. Or bring into balance two opposing visual elements — light and dark, color and its absence, sharp focus juxtaposed with blurriness. This week, share an image that has two clear halves, literally or  figuratively.

Valley of the Wind

This was taken in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in Central Australia.  We did the amazing Valley of the Wind walk within these gorgeous red domes and the landscape was breathtaking.

Enjoy!

I’m also posting this in Photo101 Rehab.

  1. Beautiful shot and perfect for this week’s challenge indeed. Love how the light shadows part of the red rock. And that blue sky contrasts with the red, cool versus warmth. Brilliant. I hope you enjoyed the trek around Uluru 🙂
