If you were asked to show us your Happy Place, what would it look like?
Where do you go when you need to think? What do you do when you need to restore yourself, to ready yourself to take on the coming week with energy and verve? How do you get your sense of humour back? How do you recharge your groove?
WordPress weekly photo challenge
My list looks something like this:
A book to read
A cup of tea
Some delicious lunch
A breeze
A sunshiny day
Spring growth in the garden
Autumn colours
Crunchy leaves
Lots of open space
Big sky
Quiet
Peace
Undemanding and understanding
Acceptance
Home.
That’s my happy place.
I’m reminded of the quintessentially Australian classic song ‘Home among the Gumtrees’ by John Williamson – here are just some of the words which resonate with me. If you know the actions, you can join in as you sing along!
I’ve been around the world
A couple of times or maybe more
I’ve seen the sights, I’ve had delights
On every foreign shore
But when my mates all ask me
The place that I adore
I tell them right away
Give me a home among the gumtrees
With lots of plum trees
A sheep or two, a k-kangaroo
A clothesline out the back
Verandah out the front
And an old rocking chair
That sums it up just perfectly!
How about you, where’s your happy place that lets you recharge?
Deb 🙂

Love it! And love the song. I was asked to sing a song that epitomised Australia when I was OS a while ago – I sang that song!

Thank you! The song just came to mind when I was writing my list out and fits my happy place quite well.. It’s very Australian isn’t it and I hope you did all the actions when you sang it.

I’m right there with you, especially with that cup of tea and the book. Outdoors? Even better.

What a gorgeous post Deb! Your happy place sounds divine! I’d be very happy to join you there. Also – how lucky are you to have that outlook on your walk – so beautiful! I’d never tire of that either. And finally – that song is so Aussie isn’t it and so very much how I feel also. Thanks so much for linking up with #ZTT xo

Thanks Min, it was fun looking back through my posts, I’ve forgotten so many I’ve written over the years. This one seemed to fit in quite nicely.
It’s a good place to live, I know that!!

My happy place is running, Deb. I love being outdoors running along the river. However I have several happy places. When I can just lay on my bed and be lost in a book or spending time with Ethan and Elliot. They are my happiest places. #ZTT

Thanks for your response Sue! I also like walking and the solitude of it. Reading is a big one for me too.
