It’s late on a Saturday afternoon when she asks the question – will we go? He answers unhesitatingly – yes, why not?
And so they go – they spend a few minutes packing an overnight bag of essentials, the bikes go onto the back of the car and within a few minutes they’re off. Accommodation is sourced along the way, when phone reception is available, and within a few hours they’ve arrived at a place they haven’t been to before. For a brief 24 hours they are transported to another world and they enjoy every minute of it.
This world involves a huge dam (or lake), a sunset walk, an early morning bike ride and a magnificent rail trail bridge (more on this later). For now here are a few sunset shots taken on an iPhone.
Hume Dam, formerly the Hume Weir, is a major dam across the Murray River downstream of its junction with the Mitta River in theRiverina region of New South Wales, Australia. The dam’s purpose includes flood mitigation, hydro-power, irrigation, water supply and conservation.
What a great spontaneous adventure they had!

Lisa from GrayDaysandCoffee started iPhriday where she shares photos taken with her mobile phone, on a Friday, rather than using her usual fancy photography gear.
Lisa says: Earlier last year, I decided try and have more of a photographer’s eye–to try and “see” photographs in every situation. Using my phone camera more often has been an obvious way to improve that “vision.” It’s also nice to put the heavy duty cameras away and just enjoy the ease and flexibility of my iPhone once in a while. So, iPhriday is the day to showcase pics from our phones. Join me in sharing your phone shots!
I like the idea of posting a photo every Friday and seeing what others are sharing too. I am always trying to capture what I “see” when I’m out and about so I really get what Lisa is doing and I’m happy to join in!
You can see my previous iPhriday posts by clicking this link – iPhriday posts.
The weekend is here again – and it’s a long one thanks to a well placed Australia Day public holiday. Enjoy…and be spontaneous once in a while!
Deb 🙂
I love the soft and beautiful tones of your photos, and what a sweet and fun adventure!

Thanks Lisa, it was a lovely little adventure. The sunset was just beautiful with so many variations of colours. I appreciate your sweet comment! I probably linked it to an earlier post of yours by mistake but I’m sure you can fix that if need be.
