Stay calm and look at this photo

calm

Cycling and sailing around the Southern Dalmatian islands in Croatia a few years ago produced some amazing views.  It was also a great way to see some of the beautiful countryside as well as being a great adventure.

When I saw Hugh’s photo challenge this week with the prompt of calm, I immediately remembered this photo from our trip.

I love the bright blue sea, the clear green of the shallower water, the calmness of the boat floating off the beach and if you look carefully you can just see the ladder that leads the swimmer down the rocks and into the water.  It’s a photo that reminds me of a fun time and of a calmness that you can only feel while on holiday in another country, seeing beautiful views and experiencing new adventures every day.

I love this quote from Michael Caine as it describes me very well: Be like a duck. Calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

hughs-weeklyI must say how thrilled I am that Hugh included my post What’s behind you as one of the five posts he chose to showcase from last week’s challenge.  Thanks for the opportunity to join in Hugh. I love reading all the other posts and admiring the great photos.

This is what Hugh wrote: Last week’s challenge was all about objects or people behind something. Lots of different takes on the challenge came in and I’ve chosen the following five to showcase this week.

Ladylee, at Ladyleemanila, got my attention straight away with her take on the challenge. A few other participants also entered photos of themselves standing behind a cardboard cutout, all of which looked great fun.

Marie, at The Syllabub Sea, shows us not only a great photo for the challenge but also brings together new and old. This is something I may use for my photography challenge over the coming months, so keep a look out for it.

Deb, at Deb’s World, took us on a tour of Sydney and showed us some wonderful sights of the city. I’m so pleased she decided to go out for a walk and take these wonderful photos rather than going to the gym. It wouldn’t have been a tough choice for me.

Sandra, at Expressions, took a photo of the sun coming up behind the trees. I’ve told her that her photo will make a wonderful Christmas card and I’m hoping I’ll be on her list to receive one.

Cee, at Cee’s Photography, captivated me with her black and white photography this week. There are wonderful shots for the challenge amongst the collection with my favourite being a certain object that reminded me of Downton Abbey.

Thanks again for the opportunity Hugh!

I’d love to know how you do ‘calm’.

Stay calm…..

Debbie

  2. What a wonderful post for this week’s photography challenge, Debbie. Thank you so much for not only entering the challenge but for also including the other four bloggers I showcased. That is so very kind of you.

You asked how I help to stay calm. Well, for the last two days I’ve been looking at all the photos that have been entered for this week’s challenge and I’ve never felt so calm. I even had a great night’s sleep last night 😄

As for the photo you’ve shared with this week, it’s absolutely stunning. Thank you so much for joining me for the challenge again this week.

    Best wishes,
    Hugh
