I clearly remember taking this photo last year – I was experimenting with trying to get closeup shots and it didn’t turn out quite as I wanted it to, but I kept it just in case it could be used sometime down the track. And its time is now!
Just in case you can’t tell what it is, it’s a branch with some sort of hairy looking lichen growing across it – I know, I’m so technical 🙂
I also know that it really isn’t a very good photo but it says something to me so I’m sticking with it!
I like the way it looks hairy and fuzzy around the edges but at the same time a bit abstract, as it isn’t all that obvious what it actually is a photo of. Would you have known what it was if I hadn’t told you?
My life has been a bit fuzzy around the edges and abstract this week too so it’s quite fitting to use this photo.
This week’s photo challenge is all about creating the abstract from the concrete and familiar.
Enjoy the weekend!

Yes i like the photo too. if it wasn’t for the top third of the photo which you can tell is outside and trees, it almost could pass as weird wool or thread.

Actually I think it’s a very cool photo Deb. It’s composed nicely, the colours are great and you’ve got the hairy bits in focus and those form the most interesting part of the shot. Very cool. I hope your week becomes less fuzzy X.

Thank you for your pointing out the positives of my photo. You are very kind. I obviously liked it enough to keep it in preparation of using it one day. I love the hairy bits!! I defuzzing, never fear 😊

I knew what it was immediately – I used to take many photos of Lichen … it’s so other worldly.

Thanks for that lovely comment Olga, I really appreciate it. I like the photo too as I’ve held onto it for ages – it just needed its own place to shine.

Definitely fits the theme well Deb. And I probably wouldn’t have picked what it was. Hope you feel less fuzzy now!
