Ambience: the character and atmosphere of a place
I love this view of what’s known in our little town as ‘The Creekscape’. I think it shows character and atmosphere very well. It also gave my mood an uplift!
I took this photo while out on my early morning walk the other day. The days have been so hot lately that the only way to get any exercise done is to do it first thing. I shared it on my Instagram feed with the caption ‘Morning has Broken’. I love the sun dappled shade, the creek meandering by and the ambience just flows….
The Tumbarumba Creek flows peacefully (usually) along at the back of the main street and the area is popular with visitors to town as well as locals. The creekscape area includes lovely parkland, walking/cycling track, BBQs, picnic tables, playground, skatepark and the sportsground.
On the last weekend in February every year this area is transformed from an idyllic and peaceful place to a vibrant and happening place as Tumbafest, a music, food and wine festival takes over. It’s a great event so if you’re in the area try to come along!
My bogging friend Miriam at Out an About featured a Tumbarumba road sign in her Ripper Aussie Names post last week. Do yourself a favour and check it out – you might enjoy learning a few new quintessential Australian town names!
If you’re interested I have written a few posts about Tumbarumba over the years. I used the poem the Integrated Adjective by John O’Grady in a post about my then 3 year old daughter, it includes the iconic line I’ve been to Tumba-bloody-Rumba shootin’ kanga-bloody-roos – only in Australia!!
I hope you enjoy some ambience over the weekend!
