Graceful Giraffes – Weekly Photo Challenge

Gracefulhaving or showing grace or elegance.

Ben says, Gracefulness is a tricky quality — it manifests itself as an effortless, subtle harmony between a subject and its environment. For this week’s challenge, share something that says “graceful” to you.

Giraffes say elegance and gracefulness to me, they have such long slender necks and legs yet they seem to move so effortlessly despite their size.

Let’s dance!

Recently we travelled north for holidays and I arranged a night of camping inside the Dubbo Zoo, as a surprise for my husband.  It was great fun with the added benefit of behind the scenes tours, not to mention going to sleep hearing the lions roaring nearby.  We had our bikes with us and rode around the zoo a number of times.  It’s a fantastic way of seeing everything up close and at your own pace.  You can even hire bikes if you don’t happen to have yours with you.

Taronga Western Plains Zoo is located in Dubbo, in central west New South Wales. The Zoo is home to hundreds of animals from around the world and consists of free access Visitor Plaza and a 6km circuit that meanders through natural bushland and around large open style exhibits.

This photo appealed to me and all I could think of at the time were the lyrics to Time Warp from Rocky Horror Picture Show “It’s just a jump to the left and then a step to the right”.

Graceful, dancing giraffes in a natural environment 🙂

Are you a fan of giraffes or is there another animal you think is more graceful?

I hope you enjoy the weekend!

  1. How fabulous to be able to stay right in the zoo. The giraffes are so beautiful and I have been sad to hear of their decrease in numbers in the wild. We are headed to Africa in 2 months and hope to see some!
