Share Your World – January 23 2017

I’m enjoying participating in Cee’s Share Your World.  It’s a great way to join with other bloggers to share our worlds.

This week’s questions are:

Do you prefer juice or fruit?

I like both, but at the moment I’m experimenting with  smoothies, so I am probably leaning more on the side of juice made of fruit!

Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?

I grew up in a small-ish town, although not as small as the town I currently live in.  I enjoyed the lifestyle and particularly the easy access to the beach.  We are currently about 4 hour drive from the closest beach so when we get there we tend to really appreciate it!

I often laugh to myself now as my daughters couldn’t wait to leave our little town when they were growing up, (it is quite small), but now they love nothing more than coming home for a few days to relax.  They have come to appreciate their home much more as they have matured.  They tell us we’re not to even think about ever selling the house!!

If you were to paint a picture of your childhood, what colors would you use?

That’s an interesting question  – I think I’d use blue for the sea and the sky; yellows, reds and oranges for the light I see all around my childhood; green for the bush I explored and brown for the dirt beneath my feet.

Ways to Relax List: Make a list of what relaxes you and helps you feel calm.

  • reading – I tend to lose myself completely in a good book
  • walking – it clears my head
  • running – it’s just me and my feet pounding away
  • music – as background noise when I’m in the mood
  • photographing (see example below)
  • blogging
  • just sitting still is sometimes all I need to feel calm
  • enjoying a nice cup of tea

Optional Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

As always I’m grateful for a lot of things.  Last week saw me planning and organising my husband’s 60th birthday bash with friends and family. The cleaning up the house and garden, shopping and planning has continued this week in readiness for this Saturday night!  We also decided to renovate the laundry this week.  Note I use the term’we’ as in the Royal ‘We’! It’s looking good but there’s still a lot to sort out.

I’ve kept up my routine of walking, running or riding every day and I am feeling the benefits. It’s much easier without deadlines and the need to go to work!  See my recent post Not so Manic Monday for clarification.

The week ahead sees me spending time with family and friends, and returning to the small-ish town (much bigger these days) mentioned above in question 2,  with my in-laws for a few days.

Deb 🙂

  4. Your list of things that relax you is the exact same as mine–except for ‘running’. (I never run…unless there is a fire!) Glad to see that our list of things we have in common is still growing strong!

  5. Have a wonderful 60th birthday bash!
