Always take the scenic route – Weekly Photo Challenge

Always take the scenic road

Nepal: I woke early in the morning, about 3am, feeling slightly unwell, and looked outside.  The mountains we had been walking in for the last few days had chosen to remain shrouded in cloud until that very moment.  I was breathless with the beauty of the humongous  snow topped mountains and suddenly felt more alive than I had just moments before. They were magnificent and I had to wake my husband in order to share the amazing sight with him.  The track we were walking was taking us further into these mountains every day.   What an adventure we had trekking in Nepal!

We must take adventures in order to know where we truly belong.

Croatia: This road was hard to ride, and as I was still recovering from an  emergency appendectomy a few weeks earlier, my husband generously pushed both bikes up to the top of the hill.  We were about to start our cycling and sailing tour around the Southern Dalmatian Islands in Croatia and we thought it would be a good idea to have a warm up ride, as I hadn’t ridden a bike for a while due to my emergency surgery.  This was a bit more than I had bargained for though!  The views were magnificent, once we made it to the top!

Travelling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.

Home: We can travel the world and see amazing sights or we can go into our own backyards and come across delightful views that others would pay good money to see.  It’s sometimes a good idea to appreciate what you have on your own doorstep!  I walked these roads this morning and thought of captions like: I’ll take the high road, you take the low road;  Country road take me home; Crossroads of life…you get the idea!  Any other suggestions you may have,  leave me a comment below 🙂

Crossroads

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,

I took the one less travelled by,

And that has made all the difference.

New Zealand: Recently in New Zealand’s South Island we drove this amazing road to the summit of Crown Range with spectacular views laid out below and all around us.

 Always take the scenic route.

The Road taken  – For this week’s challenge, show us something that surprised you on “the road taken.”…. This challenge is wide open — show us the excitement, surprise, wonder, or amazement of your “road taken.”

Our family motto is: To travel is to live! I’m always excited to see new things, experience new countries, surprised at the effect these experiences have on me, wonder at how amazing the world is and smile to myself at how lucky I am to be alive 🙂

Thanks for joining me on the road.
