The Break – #Writespiration

Writespiration – is a challenge courtesy of Sacha Black.  The challenge is to write something using the weekly theme in just 52 words…. EXACTLY 52 words, no more, no less. It’s harder than it seems, I can assure you!

This week the topic is The Break. Here’s my offering:

The Break

Living in a small country town,

A city break is invigorating.

More people in the tram than in your whole town.

Unknown faces staring down at their phones.

A break from being known, from routine,

From paddocks and big skies

To views of cityscapes, the sky reflected in the grids

Towering above.

I took this photo in Melbourne, looking up at the sky reflected in the buildings, through the tram wires.  I shared it on Instagram with the comment that it’s very different from my usual backyard big sky photos.  It seemed to suit my post!

I look forward to seeing how others have interpreted this one. I’d love to know what you think of my 52 word story!

Deb 🙂

    1. Thanks Hugh, I’m glad you can relate to my thoughts. ! I love visiting the ‘big smoke’ and I try to make the most of the different cultures and offerings. 52 words is quite a struggle though!

Thank you for your comments on my blog guilt post. Yes, you’re right, I seem to have hit a nerve in the blogging world. However, as you say, the post has produced some wonderful comments and help for those of us or go through feeling stressed or feeling guilty about blogging.
          Have a great week.

    1. Thanks for your feedback Jennifer. I understand most people would be thinking of a break from the city and that’s why I went that way with it 🙂 It also helped that I was on a break in the city at the time and that’s the first thing that popped into my head when I saw the topic!
