Blogger Recognition Award

Blogger recognition award
Pin me!
Earlier this week I was thrilled to read a post on Klaudia’s Corner, which coincidentally included a link to my Deb’s World blog.  Klaudia was nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award and, as part of the requirements, she had to nominate 15 other bloggers passing on the blogging love.
It’s been a constant source of amazement to me, this blogging community.  The sense of belonging, meeting likeminded people, the bubbling creativity, different perspectives and the positivity has continued to blow me away. Thank you one and all!

In saying that, I’m not sure how I feel about these types of awards.  I will participate and respond, I’ll just not follow all the rules if that’s ok.

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

Thanks Klaudia, your blog is always interesting, informative and your fun personality shines through. Klaudia’s Corner is well worth visiting, she writes a very interesting blog on many lifestyle issues.

  • Write a post to show your award.

Tada! You’re reading it 😊

  • Give a brief story of how your blog started.

I started my blog over 4 years ago as a creative outlet. At the time I worked in a men’s correctional centre (jail) as the manager of Education services.  My career spanned over 22 years in this area and it took a toll on me in ways I hadn’t thought of. I couldn’t let my guard down, I had to be professional at all times, I felt constrained, buttoned down and I had to always be careful about how I expressed myself.  I think I have a quirky personality, a weird sense of humour and a different view of the world, so it made sense to start a blog to express myself.  I didn’t really consider who the the audience would be but it helped me at the time to write, share my photos and my random thoughts. I have extended it to include my travels with my husband and family, my Mother of the Bride experiences, my running journey and even poetry. My sister had started a blog and I admired her style and followed suit. Now one of my daughters blogs too. I have enjoyed the process of writing but I’ve also learnt a lot about blogging, the good and the bad, along the way.  As I said before, the people I’ve met through blogging are amazingly supportive and I thoroughly enjoy our many interactions.

  • Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers. – I’m usually not one to give advice as I don’t feel I have enough knowledge but here are my two tips. I don’t presume to tell anyone what to do!
  1. Blogging is personal and you must be yourself at all times – don’t try to fit into any particular style if you don’t want to.  Stay true to yourself ad don’t get too hung up on all the advice out there (says me!)
  2. Follow interesting people and interact – you can only grow if you interact with others.  It’s not all about you!!
Blogging is...
Here’s what Klaudia wrote about my blog:
  • WonderWomanDebs at Deb’s world –  a wife; mother; daughter; a sister; friend; blogger; reader; runner; walker; cyclist; Rail Trail enthusiast; traveller; Rotarian; Whovian; teacher … called a hummingbird on speed… according to her ‘about page’. She forgot to mention that she’s  a wonderful writer and very skilled photographer, too. Her posts are never boring as you can see for yourself:  debs-world.com

Thank you again Klaudia, for your kind words.  You went to a lot of trouble to write up 15 bloggers and I’m very happy to be included. I love this list of bloggers and most are already on my reading list. I suggest you check some of them out as well!!

I’ve just returned from visiting my mother and had a week of glorious winter days.  This is one of my favourite shots, I thought I’d share it with you.  Yes, it’s winter!
