52 week photography project – Week 9: The letter D

Source: Week 9: The letter D

Here is the photo I didn’t use for this week’s 52 week photo project.  I’ve called it Debbie and the Daffodils as I figured I could get two D’s for the price of one!

I love the fact that Spring has sprung down here, with the daffodils bobbing their pretty yellow heads, the magnolia about to flower, the new growth on the roses and I am looking forward to the weather warming up.

So if you’re following along at home here is Week  9 of our 52 week photography project, with the theme The letter D.

This week’s photos:

We enjoyed another diverse and different assortment of photos this week, and they all had to relate to the letter D At the last minute, I changed my shot from the daffodil selfie above to one of my D key-ring which had a slight reflection of me included in a very subtle way, so subtle many can’t even see it!  Alison is still working on her image, so check back later to see her photo; a dainty, delicate tea cup with lots of detail from Daniel;  from Grant we had a shot of him in the dentist chair – the dentist was thrilled to get involved in the project by the way and made Grant hold the glue gun for the shot;  a Digger from Melanie, which she says makes her other half smile like a child who gets to play in a sandbox every day; from Sharon we get to see a set of dumbbells as modeled by her personal trainer; and from Tim some flowers which display the delicate dance of decline and decay.  As you’ll see, they are all great shots and show our unique take on the letter D.

I think my favourite was Grant’s dentist chair shot, he looks like he’s enjoying it all far too much for my liking!!  You’ll have to click the link to go and check them all out.

I often think the comments accompanying the photos are the best part but this week I think the photos speak well on their own. What about you, any comments?  I’d be interested to know what would you have chosen to photograph?

What’s the story behind the 52 week photography project?

I have joined with 6 photographers, of varying experience, to take a photo every week for a year, one theme at a time. That’s 52 weeks of photos!

I’ve been assured it’s all about creativity not necessarily photographic expertise. I am enjoying the challenge of looking for suitable shots as soon as the next week’s theme is announced, it takes over my thinking until I’ve taken my shot and sent it in. Then I can relax a bit!

It’s turned into a bit of a family affair actually with my sister, my brother-in-law, my nephew, my husband, my daughter and a close friend of my sister’s.  You can read more about us all here on the About page.

Each week for 52 weeks…

Each week we are given a new theme and must take a photo, add some words and submit it to Tim (brother-in-law), who will compile a post on Sunday night.  He then tells us our next theme…and so on for 52 weeks! We all enjoy a bit of a comment session after the post goes live which is always fun.

This is the first time I’ve been involved in this project but some of the others are on their second time round. At the end of the previous project they produced a beautiful coffee table book with all the photos and words included from their weekly submissions. It’s a magnificent record of a year in photos.

  1. Daffodils remind me of the spring we had a few months ago. I will enjoy your warmer weather vicariously as we traverse into colder months here in Maine, though it is still officially summer and today promises to be a warm, summer day. What a great photo!
