These are a few of my favourite things…..
It’s always hard when asked for your *favourite of anything. Unless it’s chocolate of course, I love Turkish Delight and chocolate coated sultanas, just in case you’re wondering!
Our three daughters are always asking which one of them is our favourite – and I never give them a straight answer as I don’t have a favourite – they each have their own personality and endearing qualities.
So when I saw the Weekly photo challenge prompt asking for our *favourite photo of 2017, I had to think long and hard!
It’s been a big year for me in regards to photography, joining in with a 52 week photo project with a set theme each week, moving on from taking photos solely on my iPhone to using a more complex and technical camera more recently.
I must say it’s also been a big year for me in regards to travels – the main highlights have been Tasmania, Flinders Ranges, Fiji and New Zealand.
Some of these photos I’ve shared already….
As you can see, just like my daughters, I can’t pick one favourite!
In considering this selection I thought back to the time I took the photo, how I was feeling at the time, what the view made me feel and what I saw. And if I can recall those same feelings when looking at the photo, months or years later, I know it’s a favourite!
Do you have a *favourite from this selection? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
I always enjoy participating in these weekly challenges (when I can) and appreciate all the likes and comments left to me.
As Forrest Gump said: “My mom always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” My blog’s a bit like that at times!
All the best for the new year and I wish you a happy and healthy holiday season.
Deb xx
*Favourite – this is the Australian spelling so I had to change the weekly photo challenge spelling as I just can’t use it if it looks so wrong!
You can also find Deb’s World in lots of other places – stay in touch by clicking any of the buttons below.
Those are some beauts! I can’t pick a fave either!

They’re all gorgeous, but I always have a fondness for beach pictures, so yours are particularly lovely to me. In fact, I wouldn’t mind being on a beach right now!

Thanks very much Carrie – is this the time I tell you that we’re off to the beach for Christmas and will be enjoying a very relaxed time swimming and walking along the beach??? I must say that beach photo is particularly nice especially as there’s no-one around! All the best to you Carrie and thanks for stopping by my world.

The close-up of the hibiscus is stunning! My mom had those in her yard when I was growing up. 🙂

Thanks Monica, I love hat one too. The yellow is so pretty! I was visiting my mum last week and there are even more flowers on the shrub now, than when I took this photo. Best wishes for the holiday season to you and your family.

You are an amazing photographer, Deb. I agree that it is very hard to choose from your selection above. But if pressed…I would choose ‘Winter’.

Oh that’s great to hear Donna!! I was feeling quite creative that day as I drove up the driveway after opening the gate and getting wet in the rain! It’s definitely a fave! I must thank you for all your friendship during the year. Your support and visits have been a great boost and I am so pleased to have connected with you. Take care and enjoy the holidays, although I’m guessing yours will be a tad different to our summery days at the beach! All the best to you both xx

All gorgeous Debbie but I am choosing the bottom right with the turquoise water. Warms my snow covered frozen to the core self. 🙂 Happy holidays to you and your family. xo

My favourite is the house on the hill. There’s something really evocative about it – the gentle swell of the hill juxtaposed with the straight lines of the building; its solitary position; it’s power as a look into the past and a device to force us to think about who lived there and what their lives were like.
Plus the way you’ve positioned the house in the frame – looking up at it so our eyes move up the frame from the natural world to the very man-made structure at the top … and you’ve also positioned the house on a third (a good technical aspect of the shot) … so for me there’s a lot to like aesthetically and technically.

That’s a very detailed and technical comment thank you Sharon, and I’m happy to have your thoughts. That’s one of my favourites too (obviously or it wouldn’t be in my post) but for the main reason I liked the simplicity of the shot and the starkness. Your words make it sound so much better than I could ever describe so thanks for the technical response, it’s much appreciated.

Favourite is the English spelling too! 😊 I love the bottom 3 landscape photos of yours if I really had to pick favourites! I had a box of Turkish delight for Christmas – it’s gran’s tradition present to all her grandchildren! 😊 Happy 2018 to you 😊

Thanks Linda! I can’t imagine a whole box of Turkish Delight, I’d be in heaven!! Can I have your Gran as my secret Santa one year?? Happy New Year 🎉

These are AMAZING photos Debbie. No wonder you can’t pick a favourite. What really strikes me is the variety of colour in your selection. I can’t pick one favourite either, but I LOVE the old tree, the lone boat and the orangey field.

That’s funny you say that Hayley because I love colour and hadn’t really noticed the variety. I just love taking photos of what I see around me so I’m thrilled when others enjoy them. Thanks for leaving me a comment 🙂 All the best for 2018 and making more connections.
