Welcome to Week 22 of my Friday roundup. It’s always fun seeing which stories take my interest from one Friday to the next and each week I wonder if this will be my last edition. Not because I don’t enjoy it but I wonder whether it’s outlived its run. While ever others find my posts interesting I’ll continue or at least until I don’t enjoy it any longer!

So, here are my other Winners and Losers for another week.

Great news – The Derry Girls are back on in Australia

And this news made me very HAPPY!!!!! I’ve managed to watch some of the new episodes and they’re just as good as the previous series.

This segment is one of my favourites each week! Today we have a great video of a cockatoo lifting a brick which was supposed to stop him getting into the bin. Make sure you watch for his little shake!!

The Case of the Famous Pen-Friend

I was listening to a podcast from No Filter today, with Mia Freedman interviewing Australian actor, Richard Roxburgh, and of course my mind went straight back to when I was about 15. You see we met at a school French camp and became pen-friends – as you do!

World Breastfeeding Week 1-7 August

As I was a voluntary Breastfeeding Counsellor many years ago, and my daughter is currently breastfeeding her baby daughter, I just loved seeing this image.

  1. Good on you for this compilation. That toddler doing the Aboriginal dance was the best. I was a member of Australian Breastfeeding Association for some years and you may recall my posting of the photo of the NMAA cooks book. Many memories there too.

    1. Yes Denyse, that cookbook was wonderful! I loved my time with ABA and it set me on a course of learning and helping others. I thought the toddler dancing was so fabulous and you couldn’t help but smile at his enthusiasm 😊

  3. I enjoy your winners and losers posts Deb so keep ’em coming I say! I love all today’s – I’d rather be reading a book than on FB too. That little indigenous boy is a darling isn’t he? I love the breastfeeding pic and OMG that cockatoo – what a clever chap he is!! lol BTW I have never watch Derry Girls … should i? #TeamLovinLife

  5. I can certainly relate to some of these Deb. I’ve cut back on social media this week. Reading isn’t something I didn’t do enough of but I def spent too much time on social media.

    And yay re Derry Girls. I’ve now watched s2 TWICE. (And s1 THREE TIMES!)

    I was feeling a bit meh this past week so immediately after finishing s2 I went back and watched s1 and then s2 again. It’s become my ‘comfort watch’ and I’ve found I can watch 2-3 episodes and it cheers me up. And I LOVE the music. I must check out if there’s a soundtrack to download!

    1. Hi Deb, that’s great news! I have downloaded the playlists from Derry Girls from Spotify and love listening to it! Each of the characters also have their own playlists so that’s some fun. Even Sister Michael has one!!
      Cutting back on social media is always a good idea so well done on that. Another edition of (mainly) winners is out tomorrow. 😊

  6. Great post , I breast fed by son for about a year, we had a rough ride, unhelpful health visitors and unhelpful hospital. My daughter I fed for three years. She never had formula and had breast milk in her porridge from 6 months to a year… cold mummy milk and porridge, yummy! But she ate it.. expressing milk in my car outside patients houses was an experience. I returned to work at 6 months. Breast feeding is alot of work and can be hard, but I loved the closeness.. hence why it was around my daughter’s third Christmas when she stopped. She stopped asking for it and that was it. She also used to feed to sleep as well.. putting her to bed became harder when she stopped feeding.. anyway lovely picture.

  7. A fabulous episode this week with lots to love. I love the success meme, also binged on Derry Girls & didn’t know that about you and Richard Roxburgh. I’m still catching up on the aging well series but laughed out loud when that clip of the brick moving cockatoo went around during the week. Only in Australia…

Love the baby picture; my daughter breast fed her first baby for two years; it was a rocky start as he was tongue tied and we could both see how lots of women give up through no fault of their own. I thought I knew plenty about breast feeding after three babies. But as I just stayed at home with ours I knew nothing about pumps and bags of milk in the freezer etc! Her second baby was tongue tied as well, but she was on the alert this time and all has gone smoothly. It is lovely to watch them.

    1. Breastfeeding isn’t as easy as people make out and I appreciate your story of your daughter. She did really well!! I love watching them too and it brings back memories of my own girls when they were little. Thanks for your comment😊
