What makes me laugh?

Life is always better when you’re laughing!

I think I have what I’d call a ‘quirky’ sense of humour and I like nothing more than a good belly laugh. As I said in Journaling Week 3 for the prompt ‘What makes me laugh’:

I often make myself laugh and when I laugh I usually snort, that’s when you know something is really funny! I can’t tell a joke to save my life as I start laughing well before the punch line and totally ruin it. I love nothing more that a big belly laugh and often I’m the only one laughing!!
I love clever comedy and realise that comedy is very different for each and every one of us. What I find funny may not be your cup of tea and vice versa.

Laughs this week

Just last Friday, I went to the live taping of a radio show in Sydney, TGIF with Richard Glover, and I laughed – a lot! The show is broadcast on Fridays at 5pm for about an hour and is also made into a podcast.

We usually listen to the podcast while driving and it never fails to make me laugh. My husband was at home and listened to the show and said he heard my friend Ros and I laughing in the audience!

Being in the audience was really fun and I’d certainly recommend it!

The low-down on the TGIF radio show

The tickets are free and numbers are limited as the studio is really quite small. You have to book on line and it was easy to do.

There are 3 comedians as panel members, a live musical act and Richard Glover as the compere – well it’s his show after all! The show is really just a humorous look at the weekly news events and it just happens to be where I got my idea from for my weekly Winners and Losers posts 🙂 as they have a section at the end of the show, where they all share who their winners and losers were for the week! A bit of interesting trivia behind the scenes of the blog! It always interests me how people find topics to blog about so I thought I’d share that snippet 🙂

It was all very enjoyable and much funnier being in the audience than just listening to it. The audience are encouraged to laugh at everything and there is lots of interaction, like the mention of places where the members of the audience are from. Of course I mentioned Tumbarumba and it was the first place mentioned – yay for Tumbarumba!

This was just one of the fun things that made me laugh over the weekend. I was in Sydney for a reunion of work colleagues and despite the way we finished our careers, we decided that a helpful thing for all of us would be the sharing of stories. I started the story telling session off with my WTF story and lots of other funny stories followed. We laughed at ourselves, our situation, our workplace and a multitude of other things – it was good to be able to laugh!

Being made redundant was not fun but catching up with ex-colleagues and Union friends was fabulous and we will do it again!

What makes you laugh?

Are you a belly laugher or a giggler?

However you laugh, it’s a good thing to do and helps reduce stress!

Enjoy the week ahead.

Deb 🙂

    1. Hi Johanna, yes I’m with you, seeing a live show adds a whole new dimension to things. Now when I listen to it I will be thinking back to the day we sat in the studio and watched it happen! We all need reminders to laugh, some days more than others 🙂

  3. I really do believe laughter is the best medicine! I loved the trampoline video – it looks so much fun. My favourite quote is “live well, laugh often and love much.” I think it’s very sage advice!

  4. I love the Chris Evans breakfast show on Virgin here in the UK, he makes me laugh every morning and is such a positive person that he sets me off on the right track. I love to laugh Deb, hell it’s better than the opposite any day – right? 🙂

  5. The radio show recording sounded a real laugh, love to go to something like that but not so easy living our nomadic lives. You can generally find something funny is most things if you’re open to it. Clever sarcastic ironic humour does it for me though.

  6. Hi Debbie – I agree laughing helps reduce stress. My family and friends make me laugh whenever we get together. Some comic books, funny talk show hosts, and comedies make me laugh, too. Have a great week.
