December means Winter
It’s not every year I can say that December means Winter!
The last time I was in the Northern Hemisphere for December was back in 2007, when the Mathematician and I travelled around visiting our three daughters in England and Sweden. We all then met up for a magical white Christmas in the ski resort town of Livigno in Northern Italy. (By the way, it was my last time on skis, as I decided it would never get any better than that!).
On that trip we also visited friends in Denmark, Finland and Scotland, so it really was a ‘chilled’ time in lots of ways!
Usually December is a hot and sweaty time in our small Australian town, but this year we are enjoying a change of scenery and weather. We usually spend at least some time at the beach too – which won’t be happening this year!
In fact this year will be a very ‘chill’ time in more ways than one!
Sunday Stills this week is all about December Chills so I’m sharing a few shots from our current location in Somerset UK. Thankfully, t’s not been too cold so far, and we’ve had a nice mix of rain and sunshine with gorgeous sunrises thrown in. It’s been a bit crisp at times and frosts are forecast for the coming days. I often say, we don’t travel for the weather 🙂
But I do have the feeling it will be getting colder in the coming weeks!

Love the meaning for ‘chilled’ in both ways. I went to USA just after Christmas 2005 into NY 2006 and it was cold at night in Las Vegas and wet in San Francisco but mild in LA and Hawaii. I imagine, staying ‘chilled’ as mum to one and grandmother to another is a different kettle of fish. Staying close by but not hovering is one very fine line at times. It must be such a pleasant change for you, from the usual summer to winter.
Here too in India it is the season of cold in December.

Glad you could link this week, Debbie! I fully expected some chilling at the beach images and you had them! Nice to be able to experience some winter weather in December. I would LOVE to experience summer temps in December…maybe a trip to see relatives in Chile in a year or two!

Well you’re certainly chilled out – temperature wise and lifestyle wise atm Deb. We’ve just arrived for our annual trip to Rottnest Island and the temps are in the high 20’s today – so not all that chilled temp-wise, but feeling the relaxed vibes starting (Ross is napping atm!) Enjoy your chilled out Christmas visit xx

Wintery Christmas is one of the things I miss most about living in the UK. I hope you’ve got a Christmas jumper so you totally look the part! I’ve been loving following your pics on Instagram (even if they do make me feel a tiny bit homesick!)

I’ve never had a wintery Christmas. Even when I lived overseas, it was always in the southern hemisphere… (Africa, Asia etc)
It’s on my bucket list though!
