Something sweet for Sunday Stills

Turkish Delight

One of my favourite sweet things is Turkish Delight and I took these photos a while ago when I was visiting my sister in Melbourne.

We were doing special photography practice and she was giving me some tuition. I love the end results and feel quite proud of my efforts.

If you look closely you might even see my bite mark in the piece below 🙂

Although I adore eating Turkish Delight I’ve never really known what it’s made of or how. So I did a search and this is what I found:

Turkish delight are small, fragrant cubes of jelly, usually flavoured with rosewater, orange flower water or citrus fruit juice and heavily dusted with icing sugar. The sweets are made by boiling sugar syrup and cornflour together slowly for several hours over a low heat; the result is a dense, sticky jelly.

I love trying different flavours but must admit to enjoying the classical rosewater the most.

There’s also chocolate covered Turkish Delight – in case the original isn’t sweet enough for you!

This was such a sweet challenge to participate in!

What’s your favourite sweet thing?

  1. Deb, I don’t think I have ever tasted Turkish Delight. Your beautiful photos and description are enticing me to try it. The first thing that comes to mind for a favourite sweet thing is peanut butter cups. I rare guilty pleasure. As Miriam says, better not get me started🙂
