Straighten up and fly right

Looking straight ahead

One of my favourite things…. is sitting in my sunroom and taking in the view straight ahead – no matter the season the outlook is always just right, but especially so in autumn.

These were taken 10 days apart in mid to late May and you can really see the difference in the colour of the leaves.

Straight lines

I’m sure you’ll agree this vantage spot in my sunroom is just delightful and the straight lines of the sunroom help frame the view.

Another of my favourite things is looking up – straight up!

Lying on the ground, looking straight up into the blue sky is another favourite past time. I think it’s called ‘dreaming’ the day away! As an aside, it seems strange now when I see a plane going overhead, as they just haven’t been flying overhead for pandemic reasons!

Snoopy knows what’s best!

Keep looking up, that’s the secret of life

I gave my daughter (who is visiting for the weekend) the task of finding me a title for this post and she found this great quote from a Nat King Cole song, which I think suited my photos perfectly!

And we’re heading straight into winter….

Just a few random thoughts for Sunday Stills this week.

Leave me a comment to let me know how you’re going. It’s been one of those months hasn’t it?

And, as always, thank you for your visit.

  2. Such beauty where you are…and you have made it so. I started singing that song as soon as I saw the title. Must be my age!! Thank you for linking up today for Life This Week. Next week’s optional prompt is 23/51 Life Stories #2 8.6.2020 where I will be doing a part 2 on being a grandmother. Do link up any post, old or new it does not need to be on prompt. Looking forward to seeing you there, Denyse.

  3. I love your sunroom and such a beautiful view. Just the place I would like to be on these cold days curled up with a good book and a cup of tea. 🙂

    1. Thanks Veronica, I love it and it is perfect for a nice cup of tea and a good book. I have a day lounge in there so am very comfy. 😊 I’m lucky to have this spot to retreat to when things get a bit much.

      1. I always wanted to have a sunroom, Deb. Our yard is not big enough to have one like yours. Eventually we had an estimate to do one attached to one side of the wall of our hour, but I wasn’t willing to pay the cost!

    1. It is just the most perfect spot Sanch, I can while away many a sunny afternoon out there, no trouble at all. It has electricity so I can have a heater on if I need it, my music and my computer.

  4. I miss seeing planes – I actually just learned out can listen to air traffic control live on the internet to hear how they manage planes. Was doing that the other week when I couldn’t move well enough to even watch tv or read.

    1. That’s so interesting Vanessa! I know there’s an app you can use to tell you where the plane is going. Hope you’re feeling a bit better!

    1. Thanks Sammie, the title was a big task for my daughter and she did well! Snoopy is a clever dog that’s for sure. The sunroom is a great addition to our garden and I love sharing it with everyone.

    1. Yes Terri, I’m so lucky to have this sunroom in the garden and make the most of it whenever I can. We deliberately positioned it so that we maximised the sun’s position throughout most seasons. Thanks for the prompt for Sunday Stills, I enjoyed sharing some photos with you again.

  6. Oh that beautiful sunroom again Deb – and I can see the teapot in the pic! I’m imagining myself sitting there admiring your view with the Autumn sunshine streaming in – just gorgeous!

    1. Well I’m glad I’ve shared ,my photos then Leanne, it was well worth it just so we can enjoy a cuppa together! Today it’s the start of winter and it’s raining, cold and miserable AND the kids have taken my granddaughter home with them so I’m a bit blue 😦 It was so much fun having them all here for a visit and Emilia responded to us both exceptionally well, given she hasn’t seen us in person for a few months. It was a real delight to have them visit!

  7. HI Deb, I would spend hours in your sunroom and that would certainly be my special place to be ‘still’ and appreciate life. I also love looking at clouds but confess I don’t make the time to do it regularly. I hope you had a lovely weekend with the family – isn’t it wonderful to be able to see them again? Take care and enjoy your week. #lifethisweek xx

    1. It was so lovely to have them stay Sue and to have time with Emilia again. She’s growing up so fast and really took to us both despite not having seen us in person for months. My sunroom is my favourite room in the house 🙂

  8. I love looking up and watching the cloud figures float on by while taking in all the sounds around me, Debbie. They say the sky is a deeper blue because of the reduction in carbon gases. Are they right, or has it always been that colour?
Our nighttime skies are certainly clearer. There seem to be more stars than ever.

    1. It is an amazing place to relax on a sunny day but not so much today with the rain and cold temps, although I do have a heater and blanket out there. Wishing you well for the month ahead.

  9. Deb, lovely relaxing spot to be. As far as the planes go, it’s very strange to see and hear them flying by. Autumn weather has been exceptionally good this year. Funny that!
