Shout Out Saturday#2 – sharing is caring

Welcome to Shout Out Saturday #2

Life Quotes - why I blog
Life Quotes – why I blog

Why this quote?

I saw this quote earlier in the week and it ‘spoke’ to me.

When people ask me why I blog, and then look baffled at me when I try to explain, I always liken it to people who sew, or paint, or build things or cook. It’s an interest that uses my brain, lets me meet like minded people from all over the world, teaches me new skills and allows me to be creative and productive.

So this quote sums it up perfectly, don’t you think?

Shout out Saturday – what’s it all about?

Blog header Shout out Saturday
Blog header Shout out Saturday

This the second Shout Out Saturday where you can leave a link to your own blog, or maybe something you’ve read on someone else’s blog, or tell us about your favourite blogger, or simply share some good news, or even just drop in to say hello….

No strings attached, simply leave a comment, check out the others if you want to, there’s no need to get caught up too much in compulsory sharing or other rules – just keep it family friendly and we’ll all be happy!

I don’t usually post on a Saturday so it’s a good way to see who else is around and willing to get involved 🙂 Of course Saturday can cover any day of the week!

My two Shout Outs this week go to….

Catherine

I’d like to shout out to the lovely Catherine at Dymocks Belconnen, who helped me out when I rang to order some children picture books yesterday. I am doing a Writing course through the Australian Writers’ Centre, learning all about picture books, and believe me there is a lot more to it than I thought there was!

The nearest bookshop to home is about 110km away and the local library didn’t have some of the books I needed, so I rang Dymocks in Belconnen, knowing my daughter could collect them for me. Well Catherine did everything she could over the phone to help me get the books I wanted, she even read one of them out to me over the phone! I couldn’t have been happier with her help.

Thanks Catherine at @DymocksBelco for the fantastic customer service when I rang to order some books.

Midlife Share the Love

My friends, Sue and Leanne, have offered a weekly link-up for midlife bloggers since January 2018. This week was no. 129 and they announced they are finishing up.

In Sue’s words: Leanne and I have enjoyed hosting a link up for Midlife Lifestyle bloggers for over 2.5 years. Our first Midlife Share the Love Party launched on 31st January, 2018, and our aim was to build a community of Midlife bloggers that would be supportive of each other. I feel that we have been successful in our mission but like life, change and new directions happen and this means that Leanne and I will no longer be providing the link party each week.

Midlife Share the Love

I, along with others, will miss this weekly linkup but completely understand the reasons why Sue and Leanne are ending it. It was good to have interesting midlife blogs in the one place each week and although we were only required to comment and share on few each week, I tended to visit nearly all of the links because they were always interesting to read and I felt we had built up a community. I am hoping we can all mange to stay connected and seek out each others blogs when the link up ends in three weeks time.

A huge shout out to Leanne at Cresting the Hill and Sue at Women Living Well After 50 for bringing us all together. Two amazing women!

If you miss the link up, like me, then maybe you can visit here on Shout Out Saturday and leave a link to some of your favourite blogs – just a thought!

What do you think?

Are you keen to share something with us? I hope so – just leave a comment!

As always, feel free to share and get the word out there #ShoutoutSaturday

Thanks again for all your support, it’s much appreciated.

Deb 🙂

    1. Hi Leslie, yesI agree bravo to Sue and Leanne, they are both amazing and creative women and helped get many of us together as a community. I’m so happy that gave me a thought yesterday, you’ve made me smile on a wet, cold winter’s day, as I’m curled up in front of the fire. Thanks Leslie, I love the connections we make. Hoping you’re keeping well. xx

  1. Hi Deb. I love your idea for Shout out Saturday. I had missed Sue and Leanne’s news that #MLSTL is over. I understand fully that life moves on, but I will miss the Wednesday connections. 1. They are finishing MLSTL up at the end of August Jennifer. Thanks for the shoutout! We are a great group so will no doubt stay in touch but it won’t be quite as easy as the link up. It’s always great to share and read the work of others, and it’s what makes blogging as satisfying as it is in my opinion 🙂

I have to say the writing course has taught me loads already and you’re right it is a challenge but a positive one. It’s something different at the moment and gives me a new outlook. Lovely to have you join in and I always enjoy visiting your blog.

  3. Hi Deb, I too will miss Leanne and Sue’s Link up but I intend to follow as many of the regulars so that I can still read their blogs. It’s lovely reading what other midlifers write, it’s a great community. I’d love to keep in touch on #shoutoutSaturday. Shout out to all the other #MLSTL regulars for such a supportive community, and thanks especially to Leanne and Sue for being such dedicated leaders of the group. Regards Christina

  4. Hi Deb, yes, very sad news that Midlife Share the Love party is finishing. I’ve also met some lovely people through that link party.
A big shout out to my friend Christina, who writes about travelling, but specifically about what she’s doing in Georgia right now (the country, not the city in the US!). Here’s one of her latest posts, https://travelingdiva.life/2020/04/28/life-in-chiatura-georgia-during-the-2020-pandemic/ She doesn’t write that often lately, but when she does you can be sure to learn something interesting about wherever she is in the world! 🙂

  6. Blogging is just a hobby like any other isn’t it? Good brain training too I think (which we definitely need). So good for meeting new friends all over the world online too and reading about interesting people and places.
