What’s the view like from your window?

This was my view in the rain the other day

My sunroom, which is a free standing polycarbonate little ‘house’ in the backyard, is a spectacular spot to sit while taking in the garden views, most of the year – except in high summer as it has a tendency to become a sauna.

Even in the rain it is a cosy place to relax with a good book, a blanket over my knees and a hot cup of tea. How old do I sound???

It’s a form of self-care in a way!

This was my view through the windows/panels of my sunroom recently.

I love the rainy effect! What do you think?

And this was the view from my car window yesterday when we had a lovely dump of snow in our town. We rushed out to capture some shots on the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail as it was too good an opportunity to miss.

It was quite weird that while it was pouring with rain I was watching Season 3 of The Rain, a Danish show on Netflix, which is all about a virus wiping out the world – yep you guessed it by being in the raindrops!

It’s always such an exciting time in our little town when we get snow, it doesn’t happen all that often so everyone gets outside, shares photos of snow play, they make snowmen, have snowball fights and go tobogganing!

It is only winter for a few more days with spring just around the corner, and apparently this arctic blitz was fairly widespread across the country.

More photos to come in another post ❄ ❄ ❄

This week Sunday Stills is all about the view from your window with Cathy from Picture This, hosting for a few weeks while Terri is having a break.

It’s funny, I’ve just remembered I used my sunroom as a ‘frame’ in a Weekly Photo Challenge post back in 2016! It’s a very popular little room in the garden and gets a lots of use 🙂

I’d love to see or hear about your view!

Wishing you well.

Deb xx

  1. Your sunroom seems like the perfect Winter haven Deb – and I’m a little bit jealous of your snow – we don’t get any here at all and I always wonder what it would be like to wake up to all that white.

    1. It really comes into its own in winter Leanne and is my little haven. The snow was fun and gave everyone in town a real lift! It didn’t last all that long so we made the most of it!

  2. That would be a bit creepy watching a movie about a virus spread by rain while it’s raining. We have lots of wildfires burning in our state right now, and we could use some rain.

    1. It really was a bit creepy Pete. Good luck with the bushfires, I’m sorry to hear about them burning over there. We had our fair share in January this year and apparently we are coming into bushfire season again soon. Hope it isn’t too bad for you.

  3. The sun room sounds fab! I miss the conservatory we had at our old house, because I’d love sitting in there when it was raining. It’s pretty miserable in my corner of the UK today with shows and grey skies, but thankfully no snow! Considering it’s August and supposedly summer, I’d have hoped for more consistent sunshine. Fingers crossed things pick up soon! xx

    1. Yes I would hope it wasn’t snowing at your place at the moment! I was just talking with my daughter over there and it’s very wet at her place too, not the summer’s day she’s hoped for. Fingers crossed you get some nicer days before it starts turning cold.

  4. I love photos of raindrops on windows, Deb. I also love the sound of rain hitting the windows, especially at night when I’m tucked up in bed.

I heard about the snow in your part of the world on the news this morning. Looks like lots of people were having fun in it. I hope we get some this winter. I miss seeing snow in the winter.

    1. Yes it’s quite a soothing image and sound Hugh. We don’t get enough snow that settles on the ground very often so it was very exciting! We’ve nearly had it all this year, bushfires, flood, snow…..what’s next?

  5. Goodness, hard to believe you have snow! Always worth a photo, you never know when the next snow day will be. We didn’t have any days when snow settled here this winter, I wonder if Mother Nature will make up for it in a few months time!

    1. Yes I agree Deb, always worth a shot! It doesn’t snow or settle very often here so I didn’t want to miss the moment. You’ve got it all ahead of you as we leap into spring and you head towards autumn.
