Towering all over the world

Nothing too deep and meaningful – just photos of towers from my travels

I’ve gone with a more literal interpretation of Towering for Sunday Stills, and searched through my archives for relevant photos.

Surprisingly I found far more photos of towers than I thought I would! I’ll happily share them with you.

In this set we cover the Turning Torso in Malmo (Sweden), looking up at the Sky Tower in Auckland (New Zealand), the Tower at Christianborg Palace in Copenhagen (Denmark) Tower Bridge in London (UK), St Michael’s Tower on top of Glastonbury Tor (UK) and a rock tower on the beach in Noosa, Queensland (Australia).

I love the drama of the Turning Torso, what a magnificent towering building it is!

These next photos include the view from the Clock Tower in Debrecen (Hungary), my mum and dad at the Eiffel Tower in Paris (France), the Mathematician building a rock tower on a glacier in Iceland, the Sky Tower at night in Auckland (New Zealand), a rock tower in the Flinders Ranges of South Australia, and the Diocletian Palace in Split (Croatia).

The Mathematician is always challenging himself with building his rock towers, wherever we go in the world! I could probably full a whole post with similar photos of him posing with his creations 🙂

And then there’s the towering mountains in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Oh my the memory of seeing these towering above me, finally breaking through the clouds after days of trekking, it still gives me goosebumps all these years later.

I managed to overcome a towering fear by doing this walk and would return in a heartbeat.

It seems our travels have included a range of towering moments! But isn’t that what travel is all about?

In these days of towering restrictions, it’s nice to be able to travel down memory lane at least.

Will we ever be able to travel like this again do you think?

  2. Great towers, Deb. You do not look like you have been married for 40 years. You look about 30. WOW! I love your spiraling tower. I’ve never seen anything like it. I’m so glad to have you as one of my new blog followers. Thanks for stopping by. We are friends with many of the same people, I notice. 🙂

Many thanks Marsha for your lovely compliment, I am fast approaching 60 so your words have definitely made me smile 🙂 I noticed that we are friends with many of the same bloggers and am surprised I’ve not ‘met’ you before now.   5. What a majestic man-made tower in that first shot. And heaven-made majesties in those peaks. Lovely. I hope we can travel again before long but I do think, like everything else, travel will look differently. Masks maybe here to stay, I am afraid. Especially on flights.

    Hoping to capture my tower this week.

  6. Wow, you also have a great collection of towers, man-made and natural, Debbie! And I really love your perspective on each shot. How fun to build those stone towers wherever you go. Makes you wonder how long they would stay up. I’m glad you interpreted the theme this way…I didn’t have that many exciting towers from which to choose, LOL! I’ve got to get out more!
