Where’s your happy place?

What makes a place your happy place?

I’d love to know where your happy place is.

For me, it’s somewhere that makes me smile, usually being around family.

But at the moment it’s riding my bike out on the Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail.

I’m loving having somewhere safe and scenic to ride.

Our rail trail only opened in April but has amassed a huge number of visitors in that time, considering the restrictions due to Covid and winter weather.

A ride along the rail trail

Today I went for a ride with friends and stopped to capture some of the views along the way. In all it was a 45km round trip.

The exercise, the chatter along the way, the bright green scenery, the rushing creek, the releasing of endorphins – it all made me happy. And lately there’s been a lot happening that hasn’t made me happy, so I really needed the ride!

I’m a frequent user 🙂

This is my happy place – where’s yours?

Thanks Terri for another great prompt for #SundayStills.

Also sharing squares for Becky’s Squares and Denyse’s #Lifethisweek – kindness to oneself is exercise!

I think you’ll agree, we all need as much ‘happy’ as we can get these days!

Deb x

  1. Lovely scenes, Deb! B and I really enjoyed our recent country excursion to north west NSW. Miss those hills, big skies and more. My happy place is within myself. Finding my contentment remains elusive at times but it sure is getting better! Thank you for linking up for #lifethisweek. Next week’s optional prompt is 43/51 Inside 26.10.2020. Hope to see you there. Denyse.

  2. Hi Deb – loved your happy place (and it was no surprise at all!) Jennifer also shared her road as her happy place – I guess we all have a great fondness for getting out in the fresh air and enjoying the beautiful country we’re surrounded by.

  3. Hi Deb, I love your happy place! Mine is my back verandah which I have used more than ever before while I have been stuck at home the last 5 months. Every morning I have my coffee out there and relax to the sound of our pond fountain and birdsong. I go out there regularly during the day to unwind. My other happy place is walking my dog in the parks around our area. We’re very lucky to have 3 beautiful parks on the water very close to our house. That’s the best way to start or finish my day. Regards, Christina

  4. Oh wow, I haven’t ridden a bike in years! It looks like a lovely trail.

My fave place is a long pier here in Hervey Bay that I’ve been visiting since I was little. Or a bench seat on Fraser Island (we called Poppie’s Seat after my paternal grandfather) that overlooked the beach. They’re the places I picture when doing a meditation or something and we’re told to ‘imagine a place….’

    1. Thanks Deb, riding a. bike is something I’ve always done. Isn’t it funny how we assume everyone rides a bike, I know of a few friends who have never been able to ride and it freaks me out a little!!!

I’ve not been that far north but really want to get up there one day. The picture you paint is delightful, many thanks 🙂

  5. Great shots! I also live near a rail trail. I have been walking a 10km section of it fairly regularly up until recently when the rains came. Getting my bike fixed up so that I can enjoy that too. 😀

  6. Oh Debbie, your bike ride amidst all this green is just fabulous and so good for the soul! I even enjoy viewing it thousands of miles away! Your trails look close and easily accessible as well as well-cared for, too. I feel happy in my spaces of course but new ones are on the horizon! Nice trifecta for the photo challenges!

    1. It is fantastic Robbie, so good to help clear my head and get some exercise at the same time. I am known to belt out a tune at the top of my voice as I’m riding along, if I’m feeling excessively happy!!

  7. That’s such a beautiful place! Mine is either on the couch on a Friday night watching a film with The Bloke, or taking my friend’s dog for a walk in the woods near where I live. Nothing better than seeing a dog having the time of its life running after a tennis ball haha!
