It’s time for another Taking Stock post for Denyse’s #Lifethisweek
Taking Stock #5
The idea of these posts, for me anyway, is to write a response without giving it too much thought, usually the first thing that pops into my head.

- Making: Lists
- Cooking: Rhubarb
- Drinking: Water, water, and more water
- Reading: The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman – a great read too!
- Wanting: Peace on earth
- Looking: For things to be thankful for in 2020
- Playing: My Turning 60 playlist on Spotify over and over again – it’s so cool
- Wishing: My MOJO November writing course would go on for another month
- Wasting: Time worrying about things I have no control over
- Enjoying: Warm sunny days – summer is almost here
- Waiting: For things around the world to improve
- Liking: My mum’s new house – she moves in today!
- Wondering: Where the years have gone as apparently I turn 60 in a few weeks
- Loving: My MOJO November Writing course I’ve been doing this month
- Hoping: I have my mum’s ageing genes – she’s fabulous for her age!
- Marvelling: At Victorians for their amazing efforts in getting things under control
- Needing: Ideas for my upcoming big birthday
- Smelling: Fig & Olive perfume – I keep getting comments on how nice I smell!
- Wearing: Summer dresses
- Following: The path the Mathematician mowed for me to walk through the paddock

- Noticing: How good my knee/leg is feeling these days – it’s almost back to normal!
- Knowing: A lot more about genetics than I did before
- Thinking: Where are the snakes hiding, as I walk through the paddock and the forest
- Feeling: Inspired
- Bookmarking: Pages of Christmas gift ideas for my grandchildren
- Opening: Parcels that keep appearing in my post office box – online shopping??
- Smiling: At photos of my grandchildren as they appear in my phone
What about you?
What are you taking stock of?
How would you answer any one these prompts?
I always enjoy these posts! Any thoughts to add?

The online shopping is being commented on by my postman almost daily. I’m now thinking I need to get him a bigger gift this year…that he can deliver to my door. Ha!
Love Spotify – it’s the best invention (or the upside of data-mining).
Glad that MOJO writing was good. I thought about it but passed. Did you apply for the Faber thing? I did. I really like my story so we shall see (I honestly don’t know what I’m doing in that age group tho)

Thanks Lydia, no I didn’t apply for the Faber thing but I really appreciate you letting me know about it. So much fun doing MOJO this month, it’s helped me enormously.

Hi Deb I loved reading about what’s been in your head and what you’ve been up to. I can identify with your comment on ‘thinking’. We have seen 4 snakes in the garden so far this season. I’m trading very carefully

Yes it’s a tricky time of year, stepping cautiously is the way to go!

How do you cook your rhubarb? I have vague memories of my grandmother making a rhubarb crumble, I think with apple as well.
Congrats to your mum on moving into a new house! That’s very exciting.

I use a sugar free cordial and just stew it in a saucepan. It’s so easy and delicious!

I wondered about the snakes when I saw the path and wondered if they would cross it or stay hidden? I would want them to stay away. I like the list, it looks like a fun challenge. Blessings, Michele

Hi Deb – it’s a lovely time of the year isn’t it? I’m taking stock next week (closer to the end of the month) and it’s just been such a nice few weeks. I think Christmas is in the air, and the sun’s shining and covid isn’t looming quite so large – glad to see you seem to be feeling more your old self again xx

Hi Deb, your grass looks lovely and green! Great idea to mow a strip to avoid the snakes. I’m so glad your knee is improving. I’m doing a 25 days of Christmas writing challenge. The one week challenge I did was great, but I’m worried I won’t be able to keep up with the Advent one as it’s such a busy time of year. Happy 60th birthday! Regards Christina

Taking stock of our home. Little fixes that needed fixing. How much I love every corner, crook and cranny. PC and I worked around the house, inside and out, this weekend and today I put on the finishing touches. And when Paul got home from work today and he said “wow, the house looks fantastic!!” Music to my ears. I love our home.

Hi Deb, Sounds like you really are enjoying the MOJO writing challenge and hopefully you can continue with another form of writing challenge after Christmas. You seem to have found your MOJO again and perhaps the writing has helped. For me, I’m just taking stock of life at the moment. Caught between what I need to do, want to do and maybe trying to avoid what I should do. I’ve downloaded a Christmas collection on my Spotify – Christmas always makes me feel happy. So pleased you are ending your difficult year in a much better place. xx

I was not sure about the meaning of the phrase “taking stock” until I read your list, Deb. This is a wonderful idea. The first thing that comes to mind for me is living in Canada. We know first hand how access to emergency health is a priority here. Very thankful!
Thinking about your upcoming birthday – you may be familiar with the song “7 years…” Lukas Graham – sings about turning 60 – it was part of my playlist for my 60th. A beautiful song! xx

Hi Erica, I have just added that song to my playlist – many thanks I had missed it! I’m a huge fan of these taking stock posts and love that I can think of the first thing that comes to mind and just go with that! I agree health care is a priority. Thanks for visiting!
