Fallen over, in love, out of favour, down, from the sky for #SundayStills

I nearly didn’t join in this week

But the word fallen, (this weeks’s #SundayStills prompt), was rolling around in my brain for days – all the different ways you could interpret it. Would I go for the literal fallen leaves, rain, or snow? Or would I do something entirely different?

I was very busy with grandmotherly duties over the weekend and didn’t find time to sit and write my #SundayStills post but as the thoughts of fallen kept bothering me, here I am….just a few days late! (Thanks for giving me a nudge Donna).

I’ve taken the approach of using fallen in a few different ways and it’s been a fun exercise! Hope you enjoy my selection this week 🙂

Fallen Over

This video was taken a few years ago now but it still makes me laugh. Here I am racing with my daughters in a trampoline park – it wasn’t pretty, but my goodness it was fun!


I’ve Fallen in Love

My latest love affair started two weeks ago when my fourth grandchild was born. But I’ve fallen in love before, when I’ve met each of my grandchildren.

I felt similar love when my three daughters were born but being a grandmother is a completely different love, would you agree?

The love just shines from my face 🙂

Fallen out of favour

I haven’t seen too many slinkies out and about lately – have they fallen out of favour with kids? I know I had fun playing with this slinky a few years ago.

Fallen Down

We’ve had fun making gingerbread houses over the years and the last time was a bit of a disaster, with the house falling down before we could even start eating it! Still tasted good.

  1. I so agree that falling in love as a grandmother is just the best feeling. It is such a rich deep love with so much joy embedded into each and every moment with them. Nice pictures all around and a great take on the word.

    1. Thanks for your visit and comment. I love being a granny to my four little ones and just wish I lived closer to them all. It really is a different level of love than that we have for our children isn’t it?

  5. I’m glad you joined. I like your take on it. I almost didn’t join this week either, but I wanted to stick with it. I’m trying to get my camera out more though our Northwest weather hasn’t allowed for it so I’ve gone to my archives. I’m about to have my 2nd grandbaby born….my daughter is due today. Can’t wait. I LOVE being a grandma. She has one boy who is the best, this one is a girl.

    I loved having a slinky.

    1. Thanks for visiting Kirstin. I’m glad I joined in as well, as it was fun to share my versions of ‘fallen’. How exciting having a new grandchild arrive, it is the best feeling when you get to hold the child of your child isn’t it? All the best to your family.     1. It really got to me for some reason Sarah and I couldn’t stop thinking about different versions of ‘fallen’, so I’m glad I finally got the post done! It was good to see many of the others too, as everyone was creative. Thanks 🙂

    1. Thanks Cathy, it was a hard one to pinned down wasn’t it? But the ideas kept popping into my head, so once I was home again I managed to get them out of my head and into a post!! I had to share the grandchildren one even though technically I didn’t take the photos 🙂

    1. Thanks so much, the trampoline park came to mind early on and I just had to share the video of me racing with my girls and falling over at the end, soo much fun! I had to search high and low to find that slinky but a toy shop came to the rescue!

      1. glad your search efforts paid off.
        We had some given to us from a party (in the goody bag) and they were plastic = not the same as those metal ones that you showed here
        —
        and it is a little hard getting out of the foam pit – eh? but what fun to bounce and glide

  9. As I’ve mentioned in other posts on this theme Deb – I LOVE how each of you has interpreted the idea and all the photos (esp the personal ones) that have been shared. And yes you’re absolutely right – being a grandmother is a whole new level of falling in love 🙂

    1. Thanks very much Frank. I agree slinkies were fun and I had a great time playing with this one for a photo shoot a few years ago, I must find it again to give to my grandchildren :). I see it that rainbows fall from the sky so loved sharing them as well.

  12. I love what you did with the theme, Debbie. Fallen can be interpreted in many ways. Those trampolines are quite fun, high five for showing us how it’s done! If you didn’t fall it wouldn’t be fun. The gingerbread house looks delicious even in its fallen state. But the best are your fallen-in-love with grandchildren images! I’m a little jealous since I’m only a step-Oma and don’t see the two babies now over 1500 miles away. I’m sorry and glad “fallen” nagged at you to get a post together. Lot’s of joyful images and fun to read.

    1. Oh many thanks for that Terri, I honestly had been thinking it over for days and wanted to post so I’m glad I managed to do so. It was fun compiling my thoughts and pictures and it’s the joy of being creative in various ways that pulls me in each week, as well as sharing with your delightful Sunday Stills community.

  13. Hi, Deb – I am absolutely delighted that you were able to sneak together the time to complete this post. It was well worth the wait (which, btw, was not long at all — it is only Monday here). I enjoyed viewing all of your photos here, especially Granny Deb photos. The light does shine from your face in each and every grandchild shot!

  14. Love your interpretation of Fallen, Deb and go you on the trampoline! I fell in love with my grandsons too in my post. Isn’t being a grandmother wonderful and you are making beautiful memories with these two cuties.   15. I have to agree, falling in love with a grandchild is the best! I have done this eight times…sorry, not showing off! The love for the first one, however, could not be surpassed. Such a different and unique being had entered my world. Daughter of MY daughter. My post, which is never posted on a Sunday is live this Thursday. Loved your take..and that a nudge got you going again. Denyse xx
