What does Nourish mean?
This week’s prompt for Denyse’s #lifethisweek is Nourish.
verb: provide with the food or other substances necessary for growth, health, and good condition.
So what did I discover?
Once I started thinking about the word ‘nourish‘, I discovered it covers quite a few things:
- Nourish your soul – family helps me stay nourished
- Nourish your friends – staying connected, listening, talking
- Nourish yourself through self care, skin care, hobbies…
- Nourish your life – I do this by blogging, reading, volunteering in the community
- Nourish your body – regular exercise, good food and rest
I couldn’t have said it any better than this quote!
Surround yourself with people who make you hungry for life, touch your heart, and nourish your soul.Unknown
Where does blogging fit in?
Blogging has given me a great deal over the years – a community who encourage me, support me and challenge me.
This month I’m a guest over at Marsha’s Story Chat with my story, The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and I’ve been blown away by the comments and suggestions from other bloggers and writers.
Feedback has been honest, open and welcome. Marsha has provided a very safe place for bloggers to share their writing and is a gracious host. If you haven’t joined the conversation yet, please click on the link and have a look at what it’s all about.
Nourishing new writers or those trying to improve their writing is a the sign of a generous person and all those who have commented have done so in a gentle and encouraging way. I am so pleased and proud for putting myself out there and opening myself up this way. It’s another example of how I’m trying to be BOLD this year!
In my opinion, in order to flourish we must be honest with ourselves, look for challenges so we don’t stay stagnant, keep learning new things and surround ourselves with those who see our potential.Tweet
How about you?
What does nourish mean to you? These have been some random thoughts on what nourish means to me. Do you have anything to add?
Feel free to click on Denyse’s link up and see what others have written on this topic and maybe join in!
We must never stop dreaming. Dreams provide nourishment for the soul, just as a meal does for the body.”Paulo Coelho, The Pilgrimage

A tragic accident at age 17, resulting in a Bravery Award from the Queen, didn’t deter Debbie from travelling the world. A young retiree, after being made redundant from her 22 year career managing education programs in a men’s correctional centre, she now loves reading, blogging, riding her ebike and a good cup of tea! Also known as Granny Debs to her 4 grandchildren.
