Tree Square – Day #17
A few years ago in July (our winter) we had a fall of snow here in Tumbarumba.
I took this photo back then, of the front deck and paddocks beyond, and decided to share it here again, for my Day 17 photo for #TreeSquares. This particular tree has featured in quite a few of my #TreeSquare posts so far!

It’s trying to snow here again today and up higher in the hills the snowfalls have been quite heavy.
We live in Tumbarumba, in the Snowy Mountains of NSW, Australia, which are much different to the Blue Mountains, which are closer to Sydney. Our house is at just over 700 metres above sea level so we do get snow more often than some other places nearby.
Of course, we don’t get a lot of snow overall, compared to those in the Northern Hemisphere, but enough to be enchanted when it falls and a bit scared when having to drive anywhere (well, that’s me anyway). We also have lots of ski fields and in fact our total area for skiing is greater than many overseas. A lot of people don’t realise it even snows here in Aus!
When snow falls, nature listens.

I love the stark beauty of the snow and the peacefulness it brings to the world. We have snow forecast for the next few days and if it’s not snowing then it’s raining. Whatever, the temperature outside is cold!

Becky’s square theme for July is Trees – it’s a monthly challenge where she posts a square photo every day and she invites us all to join in, either daily or spasmodically as the whim takes us!
For those of you feeling the heat in the Northern Hemisphere, I hope my wintry shots offer you some relief.
Deb 🙂

PS: A brief apology (#sorrynotsorry) to some readers who may get tired of my extra posts and my photos of trees – but it’s a warm wintry welcome to my world! I have a lot of trees around my place so this is something I’m enjoying!

it is so pretty when it first snows, sounds to me as though you have the best part of snow!

Yes we do Becky, not too much or for too long, so that it becomes a pain in the neck!

I love your photos Deb and the snow looks beautiful especially for someone like me living in Queensland where snow isn’t all that often.

Thanks Sue, you’re welcome to come and visit anytime you want to see some snow. I love your beach shots for the same reason, I don’t get to see them very often!

Ah, snow! We don’t see much of it here in South East England these days either!

It’s nice every now and again but I’m glad we don’t have it all winter long! Thanks for visiting Sue.

Gorgeous photos, looks very chilly though. I can’t remember the last time I saw snow in real life!

It’s been very chilly Alison but that’s our winter time here. We definitely have all four seasons here.

I can’t picture putting Austrailia and snow together, but you’ve proved me wrong, Debbie. Glad you get some. My sister and her kids live in Brisbane, and they’re always asking me to send them photos and videos of the snow when it snows here. We had quite a bit of snow last winter, and my fingers are crossed for an upcoming snowy winter.

I know what you mean Hugh, so I always try to share some snow shots to let people know about it! Brisbane doesn’t know what a real winter is like 🙂

It seems strange to be looking at snow while having a mini heatwave here in London!

Yes I thought that was odd as I posted it Sarah. Stay cool 🙂

It’s funny how people just don’t associate us with snow here Donna.

Ah I needed that! In about 3 to 4months it will land here and last for 4 to 6 months but today at 32 and with a nasty smoke index those pictures are wonderful!

Yep we can then swap seasons with each other! Oh dear smoke and heat is awful. Stay cool.

Now the heat is done and we just have smoke but it’s ok. I feel for those who are evacuated and have to worry about their homes.

Just glorious. I saw some pics from yesterday’s falls around Batlow too. That main pic of yours is a stunner.

Gorgeous winter image, Debbie. I realized that I wasn’t following your posts (how rude), because I just saw your other tree square posts!

Thanks Terri, it seems to be a bug going around where followers drop off and have to refollow for some reason. I’ve reported it but thanks for joining me again.
