If my family were a fruit, we’d be an orange – #SundayStills

Why would my family be an orange?

“If the family were a fruit, it would be an orange, a circle of sections, held together but separable – each segment distinct.”

Letty Cottin Pogrebin

This quote sits well with me, as it’s talking about the way an orange goes together, in segments, just like a family, and that resonates with me.

It’s a different way of looking at orange, isn’t it?

This week Terri has the theme for Sunday Stills as orange, more precisely burnt orange or blood orange, and although I know the various shades are different, to me they’re all one colour – orange!

As you probably already know by now, I am a huge fan of colour and in particular the colour orange – I wear it in clothes, shoes, scarves, earrings, hats, handbags; I drive an orange car; I love the scent of oranges; our new car has orange trim; it just makes me smile in all its forms and it suits me well in all ways!

Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.

Previous orange posts

I have written (ad nauseam some would say) about my love of the colour orange and I won’t bore you with my previous selection of photos, but if perchance you’ve missed my earlier posts here is a bit of a taste –

We don’t associate October with autumn as happens in the Northern Hemisphere with pumpkins and falling leaves. We have spring with new growth, colour and heat on the way and orange is a bright cheerful colour that reflects the change in season.

Are you a fan of orange? Colour means a lot to me and I would say it impacts on me every day.

Terri is our generous host for #SundayStills and her post can be found here – Monthly Color Challenge: Burnt or Blood Orange. Next week the theme for Sunday Stills is – The Pink Side of Life.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I love this, Debbie! That wedding picture with you in orange is spectacular! Orange is indeed a joyful, positive color and we need more of it in the universe. In the True Colors personality assessment, orange is the color of adventure and charismatic leadership! You always make me smile with your gorgeous images and wise words, my friend!

    1. Thanks Terri, I almost didn’t know where to start with this one as I have too much to choose from and so many posts related to orange over the years, I’ve said it all before. I love the personality assessment and feel I can relate to some of that 🙂 Thanks again for having us over for your challenge, it’s great to mix it up every now and again.
