If you leave me, can I come too? – #SundayStills

Leaves

It’s funny how things work out!

In my family photo challenge , ‘A Word a Week’, the word for this week happens to be Leaves.

Then I check out Terri’s Sunday Stills theme and it just happens to be Leaves and Trees. As Terri is in the Northern Hemisphere it’s possible the prompt comes from the autumn colour they’d be experiencing at the moment but as we’re in spring, our leaves are of a different hue.

And there are lots of ways you can interpret ‘leaves’.

Our family photo challenge has be reinstated to help us stay connected. Due to many issues, some of us still can’t travel to see family members scattered across Australia and over in the UK, so our weekly word gives us a sense of connection. We have a weekly Zoom chat each Sunday night to discuss what’s been happening in our worlds and talk about the photos we’ve taken and submitted.

So far we’ve had themes of – Phone, Time, Beverage, Spoon, Food and now Leaves.

Being creative

Some of the more creative members of the family have used leaves in a variety of ways – children leaving on the school bus, a sister leaving after a visit, baby birds nestled into a nest made under the leaves, lots of glorious artistic shots of green leaves, babies being thrown into the air to touch the leaves, and one of my husband’s that I still don’t understand 🙂 I’m hoping he’ll explain it on the group chat tonight!

My photo is pretty much a literal interpretation of the sunset, as viewed through the leaves the other day. I loved the light at that time in the afternoon and the leaves made a nice frame.

Art is the flower…life is the green leaf.

And I will wait for you like the leaves for their rain.

Tree photos that always make me smile – from the archives

Thanks for stopping by. I’ll leave you with the first thing that came into my head when I thought about the word leaves, the song by Mental As Anything, If you leave me…

If you leave me, can I come too?
We can always stay
But if you leave me, can I come too?
And if you go, can I come too?

Terri is our generous host for #SundayStills and her post can be found here – Leaves have fallen from the trees. Next week the theme for Sunday Stills is – the colour Ruby Wine/Burgundy.

Have a great week!

Debbie 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Ju-Lyn! Yes we have a Facebook group where we share our photos, some members take a few photos for the topic during the week, others just share one, but it doesn’t matter – we all enjoy the challenge and seeing what others have come up with. Sometimes title for posts just come to me and I go with it, other times it can be hard work thinking up a suitable title that hopefully captures the attention of readers. I appreciate your comment 🙂

  1. I LOVE how you used the wordplay of leave to share your thoughts today, Debbie! Of course, your photos are spectacular, but I really love your family’s weekly photo challenge! What a great connection. When I create my challenges I definitely think of how my Aussie friends will interpret the themes. Spring is a wonderful time to share leaves with all the droplets on them. Fab photography and a fun post to read today!

    1. Thanks Terri, I do try to be a bit different in my responses and sometimes it pays off quite well! I usually go with my first thoughts, like this one. Our family challenge has been a great way to keep ourselves thinking creatively and seeing how others ‘see’ things – a bit like your Sunday Stills.

  2. Love the photos Deb. Such strong colours and shapes. It’s Autumn here in England at the moment and the falling leaves and shedding trees all look amazingly beautiful. Wonderful time of year.
