Bloganuary 2022
I’ve decided I’m not good at joining in daily for the Bloganuary prompts – oh I see them and think about them, and then go about my day.
It’s summer here with warm sunny days, bikes rides to go on, books to read in a shady spot on the verandah, bbqs to have in the backyard, chats to have on the phone to family and friends, watching cricket and tennis on TV, essential trips to town – no lingering due to you know what….
But I did manage to write a dedicated post for Day 10 all about 5 (very different) things I’m grateful for today and I also explained what Bloganuary is all about.
During the month of January, an email comes in with a daily prompt, helping to serve as inspiration for blog content that day or at a later date. It’s fun and there’s no need to commit to posting every day but it can help sometimes to use the prompts provided. You can read more here.
Bloganuary day 1-14 prompts:
I’m summarising the first 2 weeks here and thought I’d write a sentence or two on each of the prompts so far, just for some fun.
Day 1: What advice would you give to your teenage self?
These types of things are always tricky as we now have so much more wisdom and perspective on board. I would simply encourage myself to keep smiling.
Day 2: What is a road trip you’d like to take?
The drive north to see my daughter, SIL and grandson – only about 1200km from home!
Day 3: Write about the last time you left your comfort zone.
Last year I was asked to give a talk about blogging at the local library – it wasn’t attended all that well but it was well worth doing – 10 thoughts I shared about blogging
Day 4: What was your favourite toy as a child?
I think my bike, it gave me so much freedom. I’ve always had a bike and still love riding today and enjoy introducing my grandchildren to the joy of riding.
Day 5 : What is something you wish you knew how to do?
I’d love to write a novel. I’ve given writing a children’s book a go and would love to know how to write a novel for adults.
Day 6: Who is someone who inspires you and why?
So many people inspire me – my mother, my daughters, my sister, my blogging friends, locals who have overcome dreadful adversities like the bushfires.
Day 7: What makes you laugh?
Trying to tell a joke, I always laugh before the punchline.
Day 8: What do you like most about your writing?
My honesty. I think it comes across as authentic.
Day 9: What do people incorrectly assume about you?
That I’m self assured and confident. I sort of am, but not all the time.
Day 10: What are 5 things you’re grateful for today?
See my post With a Grateful Heart
Day 11: What does it mean to live boldly?
This was a great daily prompt as my Word of the Year WOTY for 2021 was BOLD. Every month I wrote an update on how I’d been bold and it’s something that will stay with me as it was a great way to be.
Day 12: What emoji(s) do you like to use?
My top 5 used emojis are 😂🧡😊😢⭐️
Day 13: What does your ideal day look like?
Yesterday was pretty ideal to me – a warm summer’s day, blue sky, not too hot, an exercise session with my trainer to start the day, reading a book, no other plans…
Day 14: Write about a challenge you faced and overcame.
I thought this post sums it up perfectly – What I’ve learnt from surviving a school trip that went terribly wrong
Well that was a good exercise to do – how would you answer any of these prompts? Are you participating in Bloganuary, daily or otherwise?
Happy Friday 🙂
Deb

What a fun challenge. Maybe I’ll try and remember to join next year

It’s the first time they’ve run it so I’m presuming they will do it again. I’m not able to blog daily but this way of doing it was fun. Thanks Kirstin.

Loved all your answers Debbie, it’s quite a commitment to blog daily anyway 🙂

Thanks Ali, yes it’s a real commitment to blog daily, I’ve tried it once or twice but it’s not for me I’ve decided. This was a fun way of dealing with the prompts 🙂

Great answers and great way to approach the challenge, Debbie. When I see bloggers who blog daily, or several times a week, especially with long posts, I see prolonged sitting time in front of a screen. That’s not for me. Thank you for linking up with #weekendcoffeeshare.

Thanks Natalie, I agree sitting for too long is not an ideal way to spend the day!

Hi Deb,
My blogging inbox is a nightmare of a mess.
I simply cannot keep up with it.
I tried putting a rule on my email inbox that captures all blog stuff and puts it into a separate folder, but I’m always afraid of touching it because I know there are hundreds of notices there.
I need to retire so I can take up full time blogging I guess.

Hi Gary, I know the feeling of the blogging inbox and so I made the decision to limit what emails I received from blogs I follow. I now use the Reader and linkups for most of my reading. Yes retirement is so much fun I can highly recommend it 🙂

Hi, Debbie – I agree with all of the other readers. As I too struggle with an overburdened inbox, I love that you answered several prompts in one spot. Such a fun post! I greatly enjoyed reading your answers.

Thanks Donna! It was so much easier to do it it one post for lots of reasons. I admit I thought it was taking the easy way out and cheating in some way 🙂 but others see it as creative!

Clever to squeeze in several prompts in one posts! I enjoyed reading your responses, and I agree with Leanne, interesting how BOLD was mentioned. I’m really bad at doing challenges like this – I don’t plan enough ahead and miss days. The Share September on Instagram was the first full-month challenge I’ve managed to complete.

Thanks Susanne, it was an easy way out to me but I’m pleased others have thought I was being creative 🙂

I love your responses… and that you combined the prompts (as someone with a way too full email inbox, I really appreciate that!).

Thanks Janis! Yes I know the feeling of having too many notifications to go through so am glad I did it this way 🙂

Thanks Carla, I felt I should get involved after signing up, so this was the best way for me to do that 🙂

I joined this challenge late – and have yet to do a post as haven’t really felt inspired (especially the one about emojis….). I immediately thought of you when I saw ‘bold’! How perfect! I like the way you have done the two weeks in one post.

Haha, I seemed to have had a few people think of me when they saw the ‘bold’ prompt – I had to respond somehow and this roundup suited me. Thanks!

Deb I was really interested in Bloganuary but a daily post in January isn’t really possible for me. I’ve been writing my replies to the prompts and will use them in my own time. I love the way you approached it with your short sharp answers. I did chuckle at your day 4 & 5 posts. Mine are very similar.

What a great way to take part in #Bloganuary, Deb. You are so creative! I have only written one post and started another. I only found out about the challenge through you blog so came late to the party. I think your approach is great – short answers to daily prompts. I mean could you really write a long post about your favourite emoji LOL 🙂 Well done! xx

Thanks Sue, I couldn’t really commit to daily post either so this way was an easy way out for me. I’m glad you think it’s creative 🙂

Hi Deb – a great way to tackle a challenge like this without it taking over your life. Funny how “Bold” came into it after all your Bold posts last year! Loved your bright and happy photos and all the positivity. x
