Globetrotters- G’day Debbie 👋

My daughter has featured me on her blog today – it really is all about me!!! Thanks Melanie, it’s a great post 🙂

the wandering darlings

This weeks Globetrotter is a special one as it’s my lovely MumDebbie

My mum and dad are solely responsible for my sisters and my traveling genes. They took us on our first overseas trip when we were little and that started us all off on trying to see as much as the world as possible. They are always off seeing or doing something new. From walking the Kokoda track (REPEATEDLY!), hiking in Nepal, exploring India, cycling through Europe or just exploring new places within Australia they truly are #travelgoals. I mean any two people that can take 3 girls under 9 on a 30 hour flight must have some awesome travel resilliance. She’s also managed to wave her daughters off from most airports and whilst I know she misses us all dearly she wants us to go and explore and see the world. As a previous teacher she…

Numbers are taking over my world

Steep ride in Croatia

I feel like numbers are taking over my world one at a time! Ages, kilograms, kilometres, running, pace, distance, calories in, calories out, training, time, fitbit, clock, alarms, birthdays, passwords, logins, phone numbers, money, stats, notifications on my social media accounts, views of my blog, months of work left before I'm offered a redundancy, number …

Stay calm and look at this photo

Cycling and sailing around the Southern Dalmatian islands in Croatia a few years ago produced some amazing views.  It was also a great way to see some of the beautiful countryside as well as being a great adventure. When I saw Hugh's photo challenge this week with the prompt of calm, I immediately remembered this photo …

Croatia path

Sally D's Mobile Photography Challenge this week is the challenger's choice and I've chosen Travel. 4th Monday - Challenger’s Choice (Pick One: Abstraction, Animals, Architecture, Food Photography, Night Photography, Objects, Panorama, Portraiture, Still Life, Street Photography, and Travel). Don’t burst my bubble!

I love this photo, which I found just yesterday while looking for shots for my weekly photo challenge -  On the way! I'd forgotten all about it. We were in Split (in Croatia) last year, and had just finished a cycling holiday where we sailed around the islands in Southern Dalmatia and cycled up and down huge …

Splash of colour!

Pick a door - any door as long as it's green!

One can speak poetry just by arranging colours well - Vincent Van Gogh For this week's Eclectic Corner #8 Justine has asked us for a 'Splash of colour' and maybe some poetry or a quote. I have used a great quote attributed to artist Van Gogh which mentions both colour and poetry and it resonates …

Weekly Photo Challenge: (Out of my) depth?

Steep ride in Croatia

Actually 'seeing' the landscape you are to spend time cycling around/up/over/down is very different to just reading about it! Out of my depth is definitely how I felt when I saw the steep, rocky, barren, but oh so beautiful hills of the islands in Southern Dalmatia, Croatia. This sign is just one example of how steep the roads were at …

Weekly Photo Challenge: How’s the serenity?

The beach

"How's the serenity" is a line from a classic Australian movie 'The Castle' from 1997. It says it all! This photo is of my husband sitting contemplating the serenity early one morning on the island of Korcula, Croatia. I feel the serenity just oozing out of him. This photo is one of my favourites from our recent holiday …

Jumping off the merry-go-round

Back home, back to work, back into Rotary, back into running, back into eating sensibly, back into reality.....but I absolutely refuse to return to 'normal'. I like the more relaxed, happy, no worries, do what feels good 'me'...and I want to keep some of her. Jumping off the merry-go-round for a while is liberating and …
