Weekly writing challenge: Great expectations – do they ever live up to the hype?

I often have high expectations which don’t always live up to the hype, but as yet I haven’t changed my way of thinking. Then again, I also don’t let myself get too expectant, probably to protect myself from disappointment.  I don’t even know if these two sentiments make sense! I find that I get really surprised – probably because I haven’t allowed myself to get…

Debbie Harris

Out for my super Saturday session today in the glorious autumn sunshine. It was my long run for the week, so a bit slower pace. My run keeper app told me that I did 49.11km in 2 hours & sent me a congratulatory email and all. I know I’m improving but hey that’s a bit too far fetched!

PS. I really wanted to see what this format looks like in my new theme 😊

Flower Art

I recently enjoyed the garden show in Melbourne’s Carlton Gardens and loved the displays of flower art in the beautiful old hall. I don’t usually take photos of flowers like this but I was blown away by the creativity and beauty of the displays. Here are 6 of my favourites. Enjoy!

Somewhere over the rainbow!

image

On my way to work this morning I  looked in the rear view mirror to see this beautiful rainbow and stormy sky over the vineyard next door.  The amazing thing was that the other end of the rainbow was over my workplace, over 5kms from home – and it was a double rainbow to boot. What a lovely way to start the day.

Weekly photo challenge: reflections – me and my shadow

The theme of this week’s photo challenge  is reflection, which made me think of the many different ways this can be interpreted. I have already submitted one version (which I am very happy with)  – it’s the classic reflection photo in a pool of water.

Recently I have rediscovered my love of running, embarked on a healthier and fitter lifestyle and become a new woman in many ways. I enjoy walking, running and cycling for the quiet thinking time they afford me. I find I am more reflective as a result of these activities, they soothe me, I am at peace and I feel good.

These photos are of me and my shadow enjoying our quiet, reflective time together. Is a shadow another form of reflection?
