A perfectly uplifting Sunday

Dear Hammock friend

It’s been a while hasn’t it? Maybe 2 years?

I just wanted to say I’ve missed you.

Things always look better when I’m with you, lying back, a pillow behind my head, the blue sky and green branches of the shady tree above us.

The warm summer sunshine is filtered through the trees and brushes me gently with its touch.

Do you enjoy that gentle side to side swing we get happening – together?? I know I do.

It makes me feel like I’m in a lullaby –

Rock-a-bye baby, on the tree tops,

When the wind blows, the cradle will rock,

When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall,

And down will come baby, cradle and all.

Except thankfully, I don’t fall! The Mathematician has been very diligent in attaching you, my hammock friend, very securely to the trees!

A perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon, with a book, background music playing nearby and the uplifting thoughts that life is good.

The green garden views around me, the peacefulness, the solitude, the feeling of being in a different world and the simple joy of this perfect day.

It’s hard not to feel happy when I’m with you.

I relax so much I actually drift off to sleep for a few minutes (?) and wake peacefully to more of the same movement and warmth as you cocoon me with your silky touch.

Now that we’ve rediscovered each other, let’s not leave it so long until we do this again.

Life is good and things are looking UP, can you feel it too?

Becoming bold is suiting me!

Thank you hammock friend for a blissful afternoon, reminding me that resting and doing nothing is just as important (maybe even more so), as being productive and on the go.

There’s nothing life hammock life for that uplifted feeling!

Your friend Deb xx

  1. Dude! I’ve always wanted to own a hammock but I got no trees to set it up. This reminds me of a total Hawaii vibe and I so wish I was there. Yeah hammocks be cool place to fully give your meditation and dreams some heavy thoughts. But I’d probably be jamming to Jack Johnson if I was in one instead of rock-a-by-baby. I’ve never really liked that one. Sending you some relaxing vibes during your journey of Bold!

  2. What a fun post Deb. I could almost feel the swaying of the hammock and I definitely want one now. I can see myself out there reading a book. 🙂

  3. How cheery and lovely is this week’s post. Envy you the relaxation looking up there. Magical. I am pretty sure I have never felt I could get out of a hammock with any kind of dignity but hey! I used to love to lie around on a semi-immersed pool float and that gave me relaxation and a view of the sky. You are indeed going boldly into your 7th decade. PS…not trying to age you but check with the mathematician as pretty sure that being 60 and over means you are into the 7th decade….
Thank you for linking up for Life This Week. Next week the optional prompt is Back To. 3/51 #LifeThisWeek 18 Jan. I hope to see you there. Denyse.

  4. Gosh it’s quite a while since I’ve been in a hammock, I remember that getting in and out was not a good look. Years ago we had one on a frame fairly close to the ground and I even managed to fall out of that one. Your ‘down’ photos looks wonderfully calming and relaxing – the ‘up’ photo shows a mischievous ‘cool calm and collected’ very happy Debbie. Here’s hoping you can spend more days ‘hanging around’ out the back
    Take care

    1. Yes it’s always hard seeing the opposite season to what you’re currently experiencing isn’t it Miriam? When you’re in summer sharing hammock shots we will be in mid winter!

  5. I think anything that gives us the opportunity to relax, chill-out, read, and nap needs to be in our life more often Deb. I loved your hammock that seems to be very colour co-ordinated with your favourites. I’m also appreciating how blessed I am, I love how covid free we are here and the pace of life – things are good and I’m grateful every day.

    1. Yes Leanne, any opportunity to relax must be taken and we are not to feel guilty! I’m so pleased you are feeling good and we all should be grateful living in Australia!

  6. I really like your hammock friend and would like one just like yours! I’ve never had one you know BUT have enjoyed others before. I fondly think of my hammock friend at my brother in law’s beach house that I used to enjoy when visiting. This was a lovely read Deb. Thank you! And yes – I do feel that things are looking up! xo

  7. Hi Deb, what a lovely start to my Monday reading your letter to your hammock. I’ve never had one but you look so relaxed and yes BOLD is suiting you. I also note it is in your favourite colour – orange. I went for a walk along the beach yesterday afternoon and although it was windy it was so relaxing and good to get out of the apartment for a while. Have a great week! #lifethisweek

  8. That looks like the perfect spot for whiling a weekend afternoon away! I am such a klutz that I stay away from hammocks because I’m sure that I’ll stumble on my way in and on the way out of one.

  9. Hi Deb your hammock looks so inviting and peaceful. This is a great way to kick off your year of bold. Proves that it’s possible to be bold and relaxed. I’m also planning to add a little more relaxation into 2021 #lifethisweek
