Small things 🙂
Today is a case in point of small things making me happy.
It’s Monday, the sun is shining, the temperature has made it into double digits 12C (53F), I’ve been for a bike ride and did I mention the sun is out?
I’m easy to make happy – I like small things that make me smile. A walk in the forest, seeing my family (either in person or on Facetime calls), talking with friends, smiling at people, reading, bookclub catchups, blogging, riding my bike, sunshine…but I sometimes I get so caught up in the moment I don’t take many photos, which is also a good thing! I’ve managed to share a few of things that have made me smile in recent days.
Sunday Stills – Let’s Get Small
Terris’ prompt for #Sunday Stills prompt is Let’s Get Small and her post shows us some great examples of small things plus some macro photography. We also have similar tastes in quotes as we’ve both used this one 🙂
The universe is not made up of atoms; it’s made up of tiny stories.

My Tiny story and photo is about a big man called Tiny. In Australia we tend to do things with names- shorten them, lengthen them, turn them upside down and play with them.
Tiny is a big man, tall and broad, although he’s now in his early 90s and a bit bent over you can still see he was a big strong man. But he is called Tiny – go figure!
Tiny rescued my mother and I after a car accident, when I was a baby of four months old. I hadn’t seen him since that time and earlier this year we were reunited after 62 years! It was a great day for us both to finally see each other again and hear more of the story from Tiny’s side of things. By the way his real name is Walter but I think Tiny suits him far better!
I wrote about it here, and it’s a wonderful story full of small kindnesses and big love.
Have a great week and thanks for your visit.
Even a tiny step is one step closer to where you’re going.

PS. It’s also purely coincidental that our family Word a Week photo challenge has the prompt of Tiny for this week!

Way to go appreciating and loving the small things…the tiny ones in particular. Today I noticed a red autumn leaf amongst the gloom and initially I thought “take a pic” and when I realised I could just “remember it” I did. I have taken fewer pics recently but also just realised I took a LOT yesterday at Manly Beach as I hadn’t visited for ages. Thank YOU so much for sharing your post for Wednesday’s Words and Pics. I appreciate your presence as part of the community! Denyse.

Hi Debbie, Forest bathing – ahhhhh – how I could do with some of that right now. I’m gonna get me some of that as soon as I can. All the small things that make you happy are the same kinda small things that make me happy too. Take care! xo

Yes we have a great view from the deck and I can tell you that the main range is covered in snow at the moment! I’m feeling torn but settling down.

We do that in the US too! My best friend had a tiny little son and his nickname was “moose” since he was larger than her two girls but no one in their family was over 5 feet tall.

I remember the story about you and Tiny. Very heartwarming. Glad to see the return to everyday joy for you. Hm.. your Dottie would have fit the theme this week as well. Take care. Bernie

Thanks Bernie, I’m slowly getting there after our great trip away! Yes I did think of Dottie for the prompt of tiny but wanted to keep it short and sweet so highlighted Tiny instead. She is always in my thoughts.

What an amazing story, Debbie! It’s one thing to be hit once, but then a second time only a bit later…wow!
I totally get the Tiny thing. I had an uncle who was a very large man, both in height and girth. It was years before I learned his name wasn’t really Tiny! It was George! But, everyone called him Tiny.
Thanks for sharing this with us! Have a wonderful week!

Hi Deb – I think your history with Tiny is just lovely. And I’d like to say that I rarely remember to take photos of the small everyday happinesses in my life – I’m too busy just being in the moment to even think of taking a photo….. and I think that’s actually a good thing 🙂
