6:06 – Week 19 of 52 week photography project

Welcome to my wrap-up post for week 19 of our 52 week photo project. This is where I link to the original post and summarise everyone’s photos in my own words.

The theme for Week 19 was 6:06, which proved to be lots of fun. 

As we were at the gorgeous Lake Taupo for a few days I experimented with 6:06am shots and 6:06pm shots. Well, if I’m being honest I got up early on one occasion and then decided 6.06pm was a much better option 🙂

One afternoon while at the beach watching an amazing storm approach,  I realised it was almost 6pm so I decided I’d try to capture it at exactly 6:06.

I just ‘happened’ to voice a fun creative thought which had flashed through my mind earlier, of spelling out 6:06 using the abundant pumice stones on the beach and within minutes my helpful husband was scurrying around doing just that for me! 

I think I managed to capture the dramatic stormy sky coming in over the water, the block of rain falling out there,  the volcanic sandy beach littered with pumice stones and the 6:06 – all at 6:06pm NZ time. So there are just a few layers in my photo!!

My accompanying words: Watching a storm roll in over Lake Taupo with just enough time to spell out 6:06 in pumice stones from the thousands lying all over the beach. A fitting reminder that this area is the result of volcanic activity many years ago. The storm was amazing when it eventually hit us a short while later.

The photos from everyone else show a great variety of interpretation, as per usual! 

Alison’s photo shows a clock with the caption of running late!

Daniel tried to get back some of his weekend time with his shot. Good luck with that one!

Grant’s photo was a very clever capture of a boat with the numbers 606 on it, taken at exactly 6:06pm! 

Melanie used the fact that it’s dark at both 6:06am and 6:06pm where she lives but she managed to capture a beautiful shot before morning had even broken.

Sharon was up very early to capture the gorgeous Tasmanian morning light in a simply stunning photo.

Tim’s photo was of an empty road that is normally very busy! His timing was impeccable.

Update:

A funny thing happened the next day at the beach at Lake Taupo – someone had stopped by and changed the time from 6:06 to 3:20.  As we left we changed it to 8:45, so it’s a digital timepiece in action!! I’m hoping it continues to change even though I’m no longer there to capture it.
