Various Shades of Green for #SundayStills

Seasonal Green

Spring Green is the prompt for #sundaystills this week. As many of the participants are in the Northern Hemisphere, this will suit them as they enter this beautiful time of year. However, down here in Australia, we are entering Autumn with all the gorgeous colours starting to appear and a little chill in the air.

Every leaf speaks bliss, fluttering from the autumn trees.

Emily Bronte

(Aside: Having just read Emily’s Wuthering Heights, I am tuned to her words and found this quote very appropriate).

Here are some of my favourite seasonal green shots from my archives.

Do you think you could live without the colour green in your life?

Green is more than just a colour – just ask the Irish! It’s 17 March today which means it’s St Patrick’s Day, a day when the world tends to celebrate anything remotely related to being Irish. So get ready for a sea of green with green beer, green faces, green hats, green shamrocks, green beards,…

The green green grass of home

Green is said to be the colour of nature and health. It is associated with ecological movements, natural therapies, life,  youth, money, hope… It IS Easy Being Green is the prompt for this week’s photo challenge.  I like the colour green but orange is still my favourite.   Here are a few of my green flavoured photos.  After waking…

All the trees are losing their leaves, and not one of them is worried.

Pick a door, any door, as long as it’s green

I love this photo, taken on our travels in Europe (a different lifetime, it seems now) – the green doors stood out to me when I looked up this alley. It still makes me smile but then, as you know, I do like a pop of colour 🙂

The greener the setting, the more the relief.

  1. Your green collection is absolutely stunning, Debbie. And here I thought you would stop with some autumn greens and be done. But nope, you kept going with more amazing images. I love the perspective of those green doors too! And all those tall trees in various shades of green! Thanks for making my Sunday afternoon!

  2. Hi Deb, you just can’t beat nature for capturing the different shades of green. To me, I find green such an uplifting yet calming colour and of course I always enjoy seeing the glorious colours of Autumn when green takes a step back. Love the quote from Emily Bronte and I’ve enjoyed reading WH and delving deeper into Emily’s life during discussions. Have a lovely week. #SundayStills

    1. Hi Sue, nature has a way of keeping us mesmerised with the colour green! That Emily Bronte quote just spoke to me so I had to use it. Autumn is getting under way here in lots of ways.

  3. A wonderful photo collection of various shades of green, Debbie. I like the valleys, the magnificent trees and the green doors. A coat of paint makes ordinary objects pop out. Thank you for linking up with #WeekendCoffeeShare.

  4. Thank you for this wonderful immersion in green.

I love the Donald Miller quote. I was just bemoaning my falling hair to Loving Husband – I will adopt the attitude of the trees and just not worry about it!

  5. Hi Deb – love all those varying shades of green – I think my favourite is the green, green grass of home. It must be so lovely to look at it after the bushfire affecting so much of the surrounding area and to know how fortunate you all are to still have it to admire x

    1. Yes the greenness is great to see after the fires and we all appreciate it more than ever. It’s funny how green is such a calming colour in nature but it’s not a colour I wear. Thanks for your visit. x

  6. Hello Deb, you certainly captured and showed us a whole range of greens. The photo of the valley is really interesting…..the sky catches your interest to begin with and then as you look further down you become more aware of the green of the land and the trees below. Thanks for sharing- I’m off to scroll back again and have another look
    Take care

  7. Beautiful pics and words Deb. You sure are right about those green green grasses of home. Nature’s versions of green are ways in which our hearts and minds can heal which is why being near, around and seeing those greens are methods highly recommended for us all.
