Is Green planning a takeover of my Orange? #SundayStills

My love of colour

As you probably know by now, I love colour and my wardrobe is an eclectic mix of bright, bold, happy colours…but I’ve noticed an interesting trend starting to appear.

I say dress to please yourself. Listen to your inner muse and take a chance.
Wear something that says ‘Here I am’ today!

Green is beginning to infiltrate my wardrobe – not a dull khaki, olive green, but a nice pop of bright green and I must say I’m loving it!

Of course green goes with orange so it’s pretty safe to say it won’t ever completely take over.

Look at these images below – two green dresses, one new green jumper and a relatively new green top plus of course some earrings featuring green!

Do you know I often get comments when I wear something neutral, bland or too boring colour wise? I really do, all in fun of course, but I’m known for my ‘dopamine’ dressing and it’s become a habit I can’t give up. I love colours and the brighter the better. They just make me happy 🙂 which is what dopamine dressing is basically all about.

What is Dopamine Dressing?…What is it exactly? Well, in a nutshell, it’s dressing for joy. Wearing clothes that boost the happy hormone, aka, dopamine.

Welcome to Sunday Stills

Terri from Second Wind Leisure Perspectives has been the host of this weekly challenge for several years now and invites us to share a photo or two each week on a pre-set prompt. The prompts can be found here, usually a month in advance so you can plan your posts accordingly – but I never seem able to do that!

This week it’s a Colour Challenge: Green (any shade) and Terri’s post can be found here: Saving Daylight with #Green.

Being on the other side of the world Terri is entering spring and has just started daylight saving time whereas we are entering autumn and still have another month of daylight saving time. Obviously her spring greens are very different to our late summer/early autumn greens.

We’re having a late blast of summer heat with temperatures in the mid 30s, so there’s some yellows to be found among the greens, all set on a blue background. The grass has died off in the garden and paddocks, and it’s looking very brown in places, but the green of the trees is still a bright spot of colour.

Our driveway is looking pretty – although a tad dry – we’ve not had any good rain for a while!

And as I was thinking about this post I saw these green apples from our trees, the local paper with its green Tumbarumba Times banner and a jar of zucchini relish nearby. Greens are everywhere it seems – I just have to open my eyes!

Is green one of your favourite colours?

Hope all is going well in your neck of the woods.

  1. Green seems to be everywhere this week – St Patrick’s Day obvs but also in a lot of blog posts. All good, I can’t get enough of green! Thanks for linking

  2. That bright green is popular over here too, isnt it gorgeous? I have a couple of things that colour in my wardrobe too and I’m currently eyeing up a green and white striped t shirt for the spring 😉 Must be a Deb thing 😆

  3. I love seeing your dopamine outfits! I don’t tend to wear a lot of green but in my last house loved having a hint of green paint on the walls and darker sage green for my woodwork. I found it a really calming colour

  4. Green is a such a cheerful and hopeful colour! :) And I’m with you completely on the “dopamine dressing”. Love your wardrobe! Neutral shades are awfully boring. 😆

Looks like you have a large property. The trees lining your driveway are lovely. NIce to have your own apple trees as well.

  5. Oh gosh you’ve found a different take on green! I love your bright clothes,I loath black and tan in clothing, but I’ve never gone as bright as you do. Perhaps it’s my white hair. Love your driveway. Wish you’d had more rain – it’s always scary to be so darn dry.

    1. I was a bit surprised when I saw how much green was appearing in my wardrobe Marsha but I’m quote happy about it! I saw your post 10 on the 10th and thought it was perfect for this week’s #SundayStills.

  6. Hi Deb – that dress is just gorgeous on you – and I’m a big fan of Dopamine Dressing – nobody wants to be invisible when you have the alternative of shining bright! Green is a great counterpoint to your usual orange and it’s good to keep stepping up your game 🙂

    1. Oh thank you Leanne, I think this dress was the start of the ‘green wave’ back in December 2022 and it is still fun to wear. Being invisible is not in my nature…or yours!!

  7. I love the color orange but don’t wear it much, but I can wear green–any shade! I love that phrase dopamine dressing, Debbie ! How clever of you to tell us its really a thing! Just so you know, drab olive green looks great on me (probably what orange does for your complexion and brown eyes)–people stare at me longer when I wear greens in the khaki and olive tones, LOL–and teal.

Wow and that’s your driveway? I knew you lived on some acreage, but that it so beautiful! The image of the green headlines and apples is inspired! Thanks for hopping in with your cheery post and have a wonderful green and orange week!

    1. Thanks Terri, I’ll be watching for any more greens making their way into my wardrobe :). I can imagine the olives and khakis looking good on you (sorry if me calling them drab upset you), your colouring would definitely suit them. I can wear olive green and browns but they don’t bring me joy as do other shades of green and my oranges do!
Yes our driveway is lovely and we have another part of it that borders the next door’s vineyards so it is a few hundred metres in total from the road. We planted the trees when we moved in over 30 years ago so they’re definitely thriving!
