Spring: Week 15 of 52 week photography project

Welcome to Week  15 of our 52 week photography project where the theme was Spring for us and for our Northern Hemisphere participant – Autumn.

My special photo shows some of the beautiful spring blossoms on a tree in our garden.  The soft colour of them had me entranced as I looked up through the canopy and I remembered the various colours of spring green I’ve noticed in new growth in Europe and Scandinavia in the past. An evocative colour that I found out is aptly named Spring Green.

This is also the first photo in this series that I’ve used an actual camera, which is why I mentioned it was special.  I want to know if there’s much difference between my iPhone photos and photos taken with a real camera.  I know in many respects there’s huge amount of differences but in regards to using photos in my blog, I wondered if it is worth the extra hassle.  So as my husband has recently updated his camera, I get to play with his old one and I must say I’m quite happy with the results so far.  Can you notice any improvement?  I am trying to improve my skills and take this project seriously.

My accompanying words: Did you know there’s an actual colour called Spring green? It’s a combination of cyan, the colour of water, and green, the colour of plants. I love the softer green colours of spring with new growth bursting forth –  this tree in our garden is a perfect example of new growth and spring colour. I’m so thankful to live in an area with four distinct seasons, and spring is a definite favourite.

This week’s photos were some of our best yet in my humble opinion – Alison featured Beth in the garden as Beth Zen; Daniel’s photo was a gorgeous shot of jacaranda flowers; Grant captured a magpie ready to spring; Melanie shared a photo of a scary pumpkins embracing their imperfections; Sharon got into the spring racing mood with the colourful flower covered horses on Melbourne streets; and Tim captured the colours, shapes, textures and smells of spring in a simply beautiful shot.

What’s the story behind the 52 week photography project I hear you ask?

You can read all about it here: 52 week photography project  – but basically I have joined with 6 photographers, of varying experience, to take a photo every week for a year, one theme at a time. That’s 52 weeks of photos!

I’ve been assured it’s all about creativity, not necessarily photographic expertise – I’m keen to improve my skills.
