I’m no shrinking violet – a colour challenge for #SundayStills

Violet shades

Violet is the colour prompt for Terri’s #sundaystills this week.

I’ve been so busy lately that I’ve not had a chance to join in for a while, but I’m back this week with my thoughts on violet.

I must admit I had a bit of trouble with finding photos of violet, as to me, it’s not pink and it’s not purple – but somewhere in between these two shades. What do you think?

This beautiful flower teases me – is it pink or violet? Whatever colour it is, I love it 🙂

As it’s autumn here, I had to search for some pretty flowers left in the garden and then my eyes fell on the gift of flowers I was given last week. They were a thank you gift for my involvement in the recent opening of our Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail. And they have some violet shades in them 🙂

Becky’s Bright Squares

Becky’s square theme for April is Bright – it’s a challenge where she posts a photo every day. She invites others to join her in sharing their square photos, either every day or as they feel the urge. I’m dipping in and out through the month but am enjoying looking for all things bright and beautiful. I think these flowery shots can be included as bright and beautiful and square!

We were out for a bike ride and stopped at our favourite lunch spot, Gone Barny in Rosewood NSW, and these gorgeous violet blooms were just finishing their run of colour in the gardens – aren’t they pretty?

Not a shrinking violet

This beautiful orange tulip is neither shrinking, nor violet, but it’s too lovely not to include in this post 🙂 I also have a soft spot for orange.

I look forward to seeing the posts from others linking up to Terri’s Sunday Stills, featuring the colour violet, or not, as the case may be 🙂 It’s been fun getting out and about looking for violet shades.

Thanks for stopping by! Let me know which one is your favourite.

Debbie 🙂

    1. I know what you mean Sue, it’s been a bit hectic lately! I’m glad I made the effort this week as I loved sharing my flowers with you all. I did think the ‘not a shrinking violet’ fitted in well with my WOTY 🙂 Happy anniversary to you!

  1. The color violet is a toss-up and one that is seen truly in the eye of the beholder, Debbie! What my eye sees as purple ends up looking pinker in a photo. My “violet” tulips were bluer than what showed up. Eh, it works, right? And then you threw in the orange tulip which is spectacular with all the purple hues! What a beautiful floral arrangement, I love how the yellows and purples complement each other (that’s what they are on the color wheel–complementary)! Great to see your beautiful post for Sunday Stills and have a wonderful week. Hope you enjoyed your break, too!

    1. Thanks Terri, I definitely see violet as more pink than others have done but that’s the beauty of how our eyes perceive things ins’t it? And yes it all works as you say. I’ve been busy with other things but have enjoyed sharing my violet take on the world and joining in again.

  2. Beautiful flowers – that tulip is especially gorgeous! But I have to say I feel you have more pink than violet, especially in your first shot. For me violet needs a little more blue. I think it will be interesting to see everyone’s interpretations as I have a feeling we all see this colour slightly differently 😆

  3. Violet is such a tricky colour with more blue than red in its version of “purple” which is why I gave the post I did a range of colours. I think you LOVE your orange and are not ever a shrinking violet!!
