Shout Out Saturday #15 – Memories

A big welcome to Shout Out Saturday

What’s it all about I hear you ask?

Shout Out Saturday is where I invite you to join in by leaving a link or a comment to something that has had an impact on you recently:

You can leave a link to your own blog, or maybe something you’ve read on someone else’s blog, or tell us about your favourite blogger, or simply share some good news, or even just drop in to say hello….

Notes:

  • no strings attached
  • simply leave a comment below
  • check out any other links if you want to
  • use the hashtag #ShoutoutSaturday on social media
  • no need to get caught up in too much compulsory sharing
  • keep it family friendly
  • Saturday can cover any day of the week

But first a quote ….

My Shout Out(s) this week go to….

1. Nostalgia and Memories

I love this song by Maroon 5 (Memories) and this animated video is just gorgeous – try not to get emotional as you watch this!

There’s a time that I remember, when I did not know no pain
When I believed in forever, and everything would stay the same

Here’s to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here, but you’re not

2. Remembrance Day

Poppies for 11 am on 11/11 – a very different type of distanced memorial this year.

I wrote this post about 62000 poppies back in 2018 and it still rings true today.

3. Reflections on Riding the Waves of Life

I know I mentioned it in a post the other day, but just in case you missed it, I was a guest on Sue’s Women Living Well After 50 podcast series this week. I’m sharing the link in case you’d like to watch or listen to the interview. Shout out to Sue for all her passion and efforts in promoting and supporting midlife women in so many ways!

In the interview I talked about writing a timeline of what’s happened over the past decade or so and reflecting on life as I approach my 60th birthday next month. Lots of memories shared and how challenges and opportunities impact our lives in ways we don’t realise at the time.

It was a great (new) experience and I was honoured to be invited to share my story with Sue and her followers.

You can find the post here:

I’d love to know what you think!

Yesterday was World Kindness Day and I hope you were able to be extra kind to yourself and others! In a way it’s a shame we have to have a special day to remind ourselves to be kind – thankfully some people are naturally kind and don’t need reminding 🙂

Are you keen to share something or leave a shout out to someone? I hope so – all you have to do is leave a comment or a link!

Has someone done something nice for you, have you witnessed a random act of kindness, have you read something interesting or watched a good movie lately?

Anything really – it’s up to you!

As always, feel free to share and get the word out there #ShoutoutSaturday

Thanks again for all your support, it’s much appreciated.

Deb 🙂

  1. I really enjoyed your interview with Sue and all the little anecdotes you shared. And in honour of Kindness Day, I’ll share that another blogger (who I’d never “met”) contacted me on FB and asked if she could add me to her post on Midlife Lifestyle Blogs to Follow – how could I say No? So here’s a link to her post and there are a few I hadn’t “met” on there too. https://findingkathybrown.com/must-read-lifestyle-blogs-by-for-women-over-50/

  2. Deb, I loved everything about the Vlog! Thought provoking and inspirational. I responded on Sue’s site and I will copy/paste here.
Sue and Deb, I consider both of you friends and I still learned a great deal from this interview. Great questions, Sue, and thoughtful, wise answers, Deb. You bring up many points that resonate with women, especially after 50: Don’t take anything for granted; stay active; accept ourselves; not pressure ourselves; question our limiting beliefs; let the inner child out; and many, many more. “We are all inspirational to someone” and you are both inspirational to me. A great interview!xx

    1. Thank you Erica, I’m so pleased you enjoyed my chat with Sue and appreciate your lovely comments. I truly believe we all have a story to tell and Sue made it easy to talk about things that have happened during my life. I consider you to be inspiring to me too.

  3. Hi Deb, I shed a tear or two watching the Maroon 5 song. Very sweet. I did watch Sue’s interview with you and thought it was great. Bshe has a way of bringing out the best in her interviewees. I visited my father-in-law on Remembrance Day. He was in the Korean War. I like to pay respect to him and the other men and women who served our countries on Anzac Day and Remembrance Day. So shout out to Ces, he turns 90 in January. Have a lovely weekend, Christina
