It’s Phriday which means it’s time for a photo or two from my phone.
After being away last week I arrived home just in time for Tumbafest, our town’s annual weekend festival of music, food and wine.
My parents, my sister and her husband and my daughter and her husband were also staying for the weekend so it was a full house. We all enjoyed the warm weather, the great line up of music, wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, the duck race down the creek and the fun vibe that our town exudes on the last weekend in February each year. It was a very successful weekend.
Tumbafest is now into its 19th year and has evolved in so many ways from the first festival which was held in the main street. I don’t think we’ve missed one yet! We’ve been involved on the committee, helping out, cooking blueberry pancakes, manning stalls and promoting our Rotary club.
It is now held alongside the creek which meanders through the park and the stage is a truck set up across the creek. Visitors and locals find a shady spot and simply relax while watching bands perform, wandering off for refreshments every now and again from the various local wine producers or beer tent, food stalls and visiting the market stalls. Did I say it was relaxing? It attracts thousands of people to our town and is always a funfilled weekend.
I took these photos on my phone in between relaxing, eating, listening to great bands, dancing and catching up with friends.
You might remember that our little town is fighting to keep its identity by not amalgamating with a nearby town and we had our Sate Tumbarumba Shire people out in force over the weekend. Lots of supporters wore orange over the weekend to show their support for our cause – orange is the colour of harmony – I wrote about it here and here.
My sister is a great photographer, with a real camera and a creative eye, and she posted this story on her blog, complete with great photos of the weekend – Tumbafest 2016 – check it out!
