Light up Rotary
The Rotary year ends on 30 June and we finish this year’s theme of Light Up Rotary. I like this, and yes, I’m a Rotarian!
RI President Gary C.K. Huang chose Light Up Rotary as his theme for 2014-15. Huang was inspired by the teachings of Chinese philosopher Confucius who said: “It is better to light a single candle, than to sit and curse the darkness.”
“There are so many problems in the world, so many people who need help. Many people say, ‘There’s nothing I can do.’ So they sit there doing nothing. Meanwhile everything stays dark”
“The Rotary way is the Confucius way. The Rotary way is to light a candle. I light one, you light one, 1.2 million Rotarians light one. Together, we light up the world,” said Huang, who is a member of the Rotary Club of Taipei in Taiwan.

I love the quotes! Yes, if we all did one small good thing, then collectively we can make a difference. Light up the world! Have a blessed day 🙂

Thanks Barbara – it really isn’t that hard to do one small good thing is it?? As a whole we can achieve a lot. I appreciate your visit 🙂

I’m guest speaker at a Rotary Club in a couple of weeks – talking about adult literacy (might be able to throw in a few running parallels too I think). Love what Rotary do all over the world.

Fantastic! We love having interesting guest speakers. I work in adult education too which is always a good talking point as we aim to improve literacy levels all over the world. Good luck, you’ll wow them )
